OK, wasn't expecting this drop today 🤔 Calories, macros and exercise much the same (a little more light weights and less walking). I do have a theory tho... after dispensing layers of built-in fat/ thermal insulation, perhaps your body uses more energy just to try to keep warm 🥶 Does anyone know if your resting metabolic rate increases in winter? I can't find any info on it, but that's what I am feeling even when sat at my desk at work ❄️

Yes your body does use more energy in winter. You can actually lose weight if you stay cold not that I recommend it but yes you can. Your body try’s to warm itself up that’s why.

Remember too if you want to put on Mass cut back on your cardio exercise but I’m not sure the amount you’re doing. I jog 5-6ks twice a week and weights twice a week with weights 10-30reps x 3 sets that will add mass but not big and bulky type.

Hi Liz, I’ve heard the latest research shows that it’s body fat that reduces your metabolism, not your age. So when you lose the body fat, your metabolism can return to a higher, healthier level and burn fat itself. This is a game changer as traditionally it was believed that age reduced your metabolism. Now that are saying that metabolism hardly changes between 20 & 60 and then only reduces by 17% from 60 to 90.

Liz, I have been walking over lunch about 45mins with just a singlet and a tshirt outside with temperature between 9-13degC. What I have noticed is that I still worked up a sweat and heart rate goes up to 110average. It’s nearly a month since I subjected to the cold and I walk 5 days and weather permits. I also have experienced I don’t feel the cold as much now.
Definitely your body work twice as hard to keep yourself warm resulting in an increase calories burning.
