I want this drop to be because the IBS flare up is waning, but I know it's because I'm not eating enough. Drank the equivalent of 11 glasses of water yesterday so I'm feeling a LITTLE better, but not by much. The cramping is still aggressive.

I did a bunch of reading yesterday about a natural remedy that would help with these flare ups, and apparently peppermint oil is known to reduce symptoms. I found a supplement that has peppermint, ginger, and fennel. The reviews were all IBS sufferers raving about how much it helped. So, being easily influenced and desperate, I've purchased it. What's one more supplement?

Going to try to do better with my calorie intake today. And try to be more active. I'm not sure how with this treacherous slush/snow situation that happened overnight.

Well, that's annoying. My first gain so far.

Full disclosure and overshare: I have IBS that's triggered by stress. The last few days have been VERY stressful and my toilet and I have formed a close supportive relationship. It's also exacerbated when I do not drink enough water, which I haven't done the last two days. This is day 3 of the episode, and by far the worst, and I am SO bloated. I'm going to attribute the gain to that.

I've done daily weights before so I know my weight can move up and down pretty easily during these episodes. I am happy to report that I don't feel discouraged at all, because my pants are so loose this morning (even with the bloat) that I changed into a different pair!

I started this journey with the mindset that weight loss isn't this consistent downward slope, but a set of stairs with a few landings in them. A detour here and there. The plateaus and gains don't really matter day to day as long as I'm eating well and working towards better health.

Onward and downward! Most days. Not today. Sometimes upward. And that's okay.

I can't believe how quickly this weight it coming off. My eating habits have been the same for most of my life and I haven't had issues until the last couple of years. I put off trying to lose weight because I felt like it would be a waste of time. I didn't understand why all of a sudden I would be gaining weight with the exact same habits.

Then the night sweats and mood swings started. My body is getting OLDER! And it's changing in ways that I am less than stoked about. My metabolism has slowed down and so has my activity level. Sore joints and a bad back have made the things I used to do less fun.

Part of my goals this year is to find new things I love to do to keep me active. I think I'll start swimming again. I really want to learn how to paddle board, too. The idea of going out on a kayak, which I've always been a little afraid of, is becoming really appealing, too. What are some low impact things you all do to get yourself out of the house and stay active?

This lake I live on really gives me no excuse to not at least try these new things.
