2nd Entry today: This one definitely deserves it's own journal entry! Well, I had a house full of people today come to visit!!! And entire movie making crew from Columbia/Sony pictures showed up at my house. They are interested in using it as a 'farmhouse' for the home of the leading character in their movie...
The movie, will be starring Tom Hanks, about the Maersk Alabama ship... he is the captain taken hostage by the Somali Pirates, in 2009 I believe.
Well, you could have heard me shouting for joy on the inside, if you had your ear to my brain!!! I was pretty cool on the outside though.
Apparently, the state of Mass. gives away HUGE tax incentives to the movie industry to try to get them to come here for filming. As such, this captain was from VT... but they have decided to film his home in MA instead (close enough landscape wise, and all the tax benefits to boot!)
So what would this mean to us? OH MY HEAD!!! First, they pay you to use your house. (A LOT!) Then... and this is the best part!!!! they RENOVATE your house to meet their needs.
WELL, EVERY ROOM IN MY HOUSE could use renovation!!! ;)
The director guy asks me .. "so, how would you feel about us taking down the ceiling in your kitchen?, or changing your upstairs bedroom to include the room next door as a larger master?" ... oh, I'd be ok with that! ;)
OK, can you hear me screaming now???? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Go for it!
These are all projects I have dreamt about!
I am sure they are looking at other properties, and have no idea yet if our house would be selected... but a girl can dream!!!
On top of all of that, they would move all our belonging out of the house and into storage, and put us up in a Hotel Suite for the 3-4 weeks needed to do this reno and filming.
They even put it all back to the way it was, if I don't like it! Can't imagine that...but still.
WOW!!! Just dreaming the day away at this point, with the biggest smile I have had on my face in weeks! Just had to share...

Wow, that is exciting! Do you still live in the house while this is going on? Watch it on the celebrating! Though I think you've got something going on that just might be worthy of breaking a few rules! Congratulations!

That is incredible!!!!! I had no idea that is how it worked! WOW!!! I am so praying for you to get picked. There are SO many benefits to this. That is awesome! I feel like I am jumping with joy for you. lol. Please keep us updated on this. So cool.

I was told I could be here every day, but they couldn't promise me a 'meet and greet' with the star. If I just so happened to be present on the 'filming' days though... they could almost assure it. WILSON! I just love Tom Hanks. I can't even tell you all how ridiculously surprised, and happy I am at just the thought of it! saying my prayers... I'll keep you all posted.

Wicked...I hope they pick you!....perhaps hint at a fitness suit, sauna, resident personal trainer/masseur/chef/man-servant...etc...

Speechless I am...I have been missing you lately & wondering what you were up to...but NEVER would have guessed this story! Were you looking for the Candid Camera Crew to pop out? I am thinking pool, guest house, pool boy...oh WOW...all that & TOM HANKS TOOO....WOWZA!!! What about when they are shooting...so exciting the endless possibilities of what could happen!

WOW!!! Go for it! Let us know when the movie comes out, and take a picture with Tom , if you get the chance, to post on here. That just goes to show, Blessings come when you least expect it, and in the most unusual ways. I am so happy for you! HooYaa!

I'm hoping to hear back from them next week some time... just shared all of today's experience w/ my hubby and firefighter son... they both were as excited as all of you! and me!!! Wow, it really would be cool. Hope it pans out....

That sounds so exciting, I would be overjoyed they could have my house anytime....hotel sounds like great fun as well....hope your dream comes true......we will be waiting with baited breath......something exciting to think about. I am right there with you on the renovate my house....wow yessssssss. Now funny thing I was just talking to my Brother in England and my Nephew has just got a job on ships to stop the Somali Pirates we talked about the Captain being taken, then I come on and read this. My Bro said it won't happen again as now the guys on board are armed so the Pirates can't take over the ships. My nephew is an ex Royal Marine which all the guys who work in this job are.....I will be watching the movie without a doubt. So waiting for an update......

I have worked in the film industry for the last decade and while it is exciting and certainly pays well and has many other benefits I just wanted to let you know make sure you have an air tight contract. This is obviously as big as production companies come so it should be more than fine but I have seen many upset homeowners after a crew is in a home for a month. We really 'work' a location. Anyway, I am a Costume Designer but I just wanted to give you a heads up. Very exciting though, you will have the best redecorating crew possible :).
