(duplicate post in my group)...I never thought in a million years I would be writing this journal entry… but I have decided to officially wipe the slate clean, and start over. What does that mean? Well, I have purchased a new Way of Eating Plan, called Unleash Your Thin – by Dr. Jonny Bowden.

Let’s revisit the term ‘diet’. Right now it conjures up magic pills, quick fixes, starvation, deprivation and food obsessions. Throwing all of that out the window… let’s look at ‘diet’ as what it is meant to be.

A diet is a plan for action – of your own making.

A diet is simply a program of change in the areas of behaviors and attitudes, about food and exercise.

In the original Greek, ‘diet’ meant “a manner of living”. A diet is just a way of putting some limits on a style of eating that is not producing the desired results.

What those limits are… how they are ultimately constructed, what they exclude or include… are going to be MY decisions. I will not make these choices based in fear - of gaining … but rather I will make these choices from a position of power and strength. I will choose to enjoy this journey. I will take the best of all available information and process it to select the very BEST for my new way of living.

Ok – the basics, I am still going to be eating LOW CARB.

So, here is my dilemma. Do I change my ‘diet’ heading, from Atkins to Unleash Your Thin. ??? If I do, I believe I will lose all of my history. I don’t think I will lose my journals. But I will lose all of my ‘food/weight’ histories. (I believe.) STEF – what happened when you changed from Atkins to Primal??? How do I change this so I don’t lose anything???

I will be journaling, and using the GRAND CENTRAL STATION group area to post blogs on a regular basis with all kinds of ‘goodies’ on what this guy has to say. Bottom line, I choose to eat healthy for me. And regardless of the weight, the scale, the ‘measuring sticks’… I will continue to choose to eat healthy, for me!

I’m tired of thinking about carb g’s / calories / etc… I just want to get on with living day to day, with a lifestyle choice of eating healthy and continuing to exercise. That much I can do.

I probably am not supposed to copy what he writes in this book and put it up online, but … don’t tell anyone, and hopefully I will stay out of jail. LOL! There’s some things I obviously already knew… and some explanations for things, I had no idea… but in general, this will continue my journey of learning something new…everyday! And in the process, I hope it is able to help others at the same time.

It’s time for me to find my joy again!

I'm so proud of you! You know- that's why I changed my "diet" so many times, but in the end, I always ended up back doing my own thing- buidling off of the basic building blocks to a healthier life. Regardless of what this guys has to say or what anyone else has to say, most of it is pretty simple. I am glad that you saw what I saw as an outsider (IMO) that you were getting so pissed at all these things- macronutrients, calories, this with that, etc....and you just sounded- hate to sound harsh, but like a robot- and I even said, you gotta get back to living. You know the basic tools and fundamentals to build off of-so I am SO HAPPY that you are wanting the JOY of healthy living back and not the day to day nazi regimen. Rock it, girl! I hope you ENJOY being YOU and eating healthy for YOU. I too am low carb, but that's not because of any "diet"- it's because I know my body performs better when I'm not eating pasta and bread, etc. OK- time to take dog for a walk-I'm so tired.

I bet... a 1000+ calorie burn day will leave you feeling like a wet dishrag! Hope you had something to eat when you got back home! And thanks for all the support. I already feel a huge sense of relief that I just don't have to measure up to some 'program'. I gave it a very reasonable 'fair shot'. In the end, I won't be changing much. I just won't be following all of their rules, etc. anymore. I'm breaking new ground here.. not one to usually stray from the program. I liked being told eat this amount, or do that... and it worked. But now it's not... and I have to figure out my own way of making this a comfortable lifestyle choice. There is no other option for me... as I don't want to go back to being controlled by sugary/higher carb foods. They do terrible things to me, my body, my moods, my attitude, and my figure. So a modified low carb way of life is perfect for me. (just won't call it Atkins.) As a matter of fact I may not call it by this guy's either... I might just change it to Paula's Modified Low Carb Diet (or something like that.) Anyway...thanks for helping me thru these last weeks of endless trying.

Paula - I think it is time for a change. As long as a "diet" is based on sound principals I feel we can all benefit from others insight. As you know, I haven't really been doing Atkins, but don't want to change to Low Glycemic (or whatever on earth I've been doing) for the reasons you stated above. Best of luck!

I just went for it... and changed it to jsfantome's own diet. Didn't lose any info. All good!

Paula, just got on for the first time today, and saw your post. Sorry I wasn't here to tell you that all would be good, but it appears you figured it out on your own! Good luck!

What a great journal, JS! I loved reading this. Sometimes, if things don't feel right, we simply need to reboot. I'm glad to see that you're making a decision, and you sound like you're in the right mindset for it. Make sure you make this a livable journey, and enjoy the heck out of it. If a weight loss journey is not fun, then it's no-go. You can do this, and you know you have an "army of losers" behind you to support you. I can't wait to read more about your new journey, how it works and how you succeed! Go go go!

Best of luck to you Paula on your new journey. You are a strong person and have been through so much. I know you can do this for yourself and be safe with it. HUGS to you my friend.:):)

Good luck Paula on your new food plan. I truly believe we each have to find our own way in this maze of choices. For me today ATKINS works but if I find it doesn't I will do another plan until I find what works for me.

Good for you, Paula. Frankly, I think very few of us Atkins people, at least on this site, are really doing Atkins completely and absolutely by the book, esp. after Induction (how many people do you see noting what 1 specific food they're adding this week, or how many carbs they're targeting for this week, or what rung they are on?) In general, many of us are just making some sort of adjustments as we go while still staying low carb. And I consider myself one of the many who are NOT 100% by the book, for better or worse. Best of luck on this new endeavor....I'll be anxious to see how everything happens for you, but knowing you, it will be a resounding success!
