From a farmers market, yes, you can trust 'organic', but in a supermarket? I'd say no, particularly if it comes from another country or across state borders. Laws often require spraying in transit.

Hmmm...I did not know that. Today I bought some produce at a local farmer's stand that came from Pennsylvania. I live in Virginia. Need to look that info up. The family does market days at different large farmer's markets.

I think from farmers you may be okay. If it's in the local grocery store I'd be leery. Anyone else know of spraying requirements between states?

You're right Kattay. I've heard that the label "Organic" is fairly lax in the U.S. and that it may not mean much. I'm lucky because, I have a great Organic Farm just a few miles from my home. I can buy Chickens, Pork, Beef & Vegetables there and be confident that they are truly pesticide, hormone, antibiotic and GMO free.
