This ring bells with me. The low fat diet I've been doing lately may have caused this sensitivity to refined carbs. Hormones and nerves need dietary fat to work properly. Will think about this, and probably reduce food volume in favor of higher fat percentage.

This is what happens to me, it certainly makes me crave more. I have for some time cut out the daily sugar and I don't crave it. I don't consider fruits sugar. The change that I have seen from it is that it keeps my weight lower. For the past year as long as I remain active (very important) and cut the added sugar I don't have to worry about counting calories, my weight remains the same.

You could be onto something. It may be that some (I've not read the article so I'm not supporting or disputing it) people have hormones that allow them to eat sugar without repercussions while others do not; or some just have more self control. I often wonder myself on days when I want to eat the couch if something I had contained either sugar or some other appetite triggering chemical or if it's truly just emotional and I need to do some work outside the kitchen.

I have issues as well. Not sure what is causing them but to me it has been important to identify them and deal with them. Gives me more power and I learn ways to move forward.

My husband prefers salty food and he is not affected by sugar (donuts, cakes) as I am. I wonder if that makes a difference. I can have a bag of chips in my house for a long time and not even touch it.

Have you ever read "The Pleasure Trap" by Dr Doug Lisle? Our brains are hard wired to seek out the substances that prevent us from starving-like sugar and fat. Used to be that those substances were rare and hard to come by, but in the last 100 years they are everywhere.

I am addicted to all sweet or starchy carbs. The only way I succeed, is to eliminate them from my house, and substitute low carb / high fat alternatives. They fill me up faster, so I avoid binging.
