Up a little because its HOT and weve been grabbing quick food - aka deep fried food. We dont have central air anymore so I lug 3 window units in and out each year. I think that I have tendonitis in my knee so Im trying to keep from agitating it more but I had to get at least a couple of them in. So Im the only one without a unit right now and its been pretty miserable but it is what it is. Im hoping that I can get it in tonight after work.

Running update:
I went on Saturday and ran with a trainer at the park. I think that running faster and taking longer strides is what made my knee angry, but it was already a little mad at me so who knows. We got in 2 miles of walk/jog/"run" and that was pretty good. Im still freaking out about the 5 mile race coming up because Im definitely not there yet. My kid told me - why are you so worried about it? What happens if you dont make it/finish? Who cares? And shes right, it doesnt matter to anyone but me. I just want to finish in the timeframe but I havent even walked 5 miles in ages so I have no idea how long that will take me. I know I cant jog 5 miles. I cant jog 1 mile without walking. And I have to keep myself from training because I need to let my body rest and repair but I just want to GOOOOOOO. Its so hard! At least I can get in a walk every day.

Feeling much better today. Ankles dont really hurt anymore and my knee feels better. I went for a walk on lunch and the only thing that was bothering me are the bug bites on the backs of my legs where my pants rubbed!

Trying to make a few small changes like:
*Only 1 cup of coffee a day, unless its with Zero Creamer (I use a lot of creamer).
*Only eating ice cream once a week - I was getting out of control there for a bit. I have some frozen snacks to help with this if needed.
*Add more veggies. I know this is pretty basic, but Im trying to add veggies anywhere I can.
*Stay active. Go for walks even when Im sore, even if its only for a few minutes.

So far Im doing ok, but I havent had a challenging day yet. That will be the real test. Also, going on vacation soon so thats two full days of being in the car. I dont want that to derail the progress Im FINALLY starting to make.

No weigh in today.

Yesterday I had a meeting that irritated me, so I took my lunch right after and went to the park for a run. It was a good run, but I was pretty sore in my ankles and the insides of my calves. Im going to get some compression socks and see if that helps, and Ive been using a roller on my legs. Im also feeling a little loose (?) in my knee so Im trying to keep that wrapped up too. I have a group run on Saturday so I wont run again before that. I do plan on walking tonight and maybe Ill hit the gym tomorrow. I also went to the store last night AND had to take two loads to the laundromat because our dryer is broken so I was pretty tired and probably all around pushed too hard.

I was also SO HUNGRY after I got done. I forgot that happens sometimes. I felt like I just couldnt get enough so I kept eating "small things" instead of just making a meal. Glad I noticed what was happening so I can be better prepared next time.

This past weekend was a big event at my job that basically lasted (for staff) from Thursday through Sunday and I pretty much slept all day Monday. I got in steps, but I was pretty much in one area for Friday and Saturday and it was an "eat what you can get" type of deal. I had some family issues pop up that Im trying to work through so I didnt take the time to prepare food to take with me. I think I had 3 different pizzas on Friday, 4 different for the whole weekend plus many beers in the evenings. Saturday night I managed to grab a salad and I could feel my body sighing with relief haha. Needless to say, Im surprised that Im down a little today.

Running Update:
I went for a run on Wednesday before the chaos all started and instantly my calves felt like someone blew up a balloon inside my skin. It was weird and it wasnt a good feeling run although I did what I could. I plan to go today after I run a roller over my legs. ALSO, what I thought was a 5k is actually a 5 MILE run at the completion of the run club and Im pretty sure that theres no way Ill survive that. Im not going to stop trying though. Im actually enjoying the process and its helping me get back into taking care of myself - which was the goal.

Finally made it to a group run on Saturday and it was literally me and a trainer which was totally worth it! She told me that I have good form and advice to work on my breathing. I ran for 5 whole minutes without stopping and Im basically a boss now. I had to take a 30 second walk in the middle of the other 2 five minute runs but thats OK. Its still the most I've ever done- probably literally.

I had a major anxiety spike today and the adrenaline was just too much so I took a long lunch and went to the gym and worked it out. I thought about running but thought maybe I should focus on something else and really I just wanted to throw something heavy. I forgot how great the gym was for that sort of thing.

Not doing great on what I eat, but Im not doing terrible either. Just need to cut back on eating out and fried stuff. All in good time.
