Butter in Coffee - I did it this morning. Let me back up. I've been feeling sluggish, took a nap after work, having Atkins bars after dinner cause I'm still hungry. Got online reading 75% fat, 20% protein, & 5% carbs, looking at my menu's, I'm always more protein, so thought I'd change it up. This morning, had butter in my coffee, didn't taste bad at all, my lips are smoother :). Anyway, at 8:00 am, I'm feeling GREAT, really great. It's 1:00 and I missed my 10:15 snack, cause I'm not hungry! and I still feel GREAT. I'm going down this road for awhile. I have been losing at a steady rate, so it's not that I really want to lose faster, but this feeling I have is better than losing weight faster. I'll keep you all posted. KETO ON!

Increasing my fats and decreasing proteins helps me lose weight but it’s hard to do! I usually end up with more protein than I’d like.

Increasing fats definitely helps to keep you fuller longer. I absolutely love my butter coffee! I mix mine up a bit and add a half TBS butter, 1 TBS MCT oil, a tsp or so of organic cacao powder, a bit of himilayan salt, and a couple drops of stevia. Blend it well and it's like a salted mocha butter coffee. Delicious!

Are the extra calories from butter in your coffee worth the offset of any benefits that you might have with respect to not ingesting calories later when you may feel hungry? Just curious.

I personally think that if one has extra fat already that one doesn't need the butter until the extra fat is gone and then you need it to be able to have the fat to burn!

Hi drshelking, My daily goal is under 20 grams of carbs a day. I've never gone over my calorie intake though. I've just done this once, my first day and I felt terrific. I never felt hungry, so what I would have eaten as a snack was way more calories that a tbs of butter. Didn't change a thing but butter in my coffee. This morning I woke up feeling great. I'll give this a week and let you know.

Hi rannanmc, If I stay under 20 grams of carbs a day, I burn my own fat. I've got a lot more fat to burn too! Having fat in the am gives me the energy needed for my body and mind. I'm a happy camper. Keto on my friend!

This is for keto\low carb: When I was on low carb\keto type diet, my 2 fav eat out places were Cici's and In N Out. It was great to be able to have those 2 places to eat in or take out that was legal on my diet. Most people know about the protein style burger (no bun) at In N Out but not everyone knows about the crustless pizza and of course salad that you can get at Cici's just tell them you want crustless whatever kind, I usually got supreme and yum. so today I went to Cici's and got a big salad and ordered a thin crust veggie pizza. I had 2 pieces and my husband saved me and ate 4. Great meal, just doesn't have whole wheat crust, but is very very thin. Now what's for dinner? Boy I am messed up with the time change!
