Wishing you all a great weekend!
I started really pushing myself on drinking water yesterday. The scale was down a pound today...finally! I weigh myself dressed for a couple of reasons.
1) I'm too lazy to take off my clothes to do it and it's cold in Alaska! :P
2) I know the scale will show a lower weight, but don't want to "fake myself out" by removing clothes.
That may sound really dumb, but I don't walk around naked in public so I might as well weigh in clothes.
I thought about doing a couple of things last night:
1) Using a smaller glass for water than my giant mug. I think I will feel more successful emptying out a smaller glass than looking at a huge mug with a pint of water daring me to drink it.
2) Changing my goals. I'm considering rather than showing I need to lose 80 pounds total, changing it to 5 pounds at a time. Again, like the water, emphasizing the small successes more often rather than looking at a huge goal to achieve.
I will definitely changing the water glass today, but I'll think about changing the goals a little more.
Any thoughts about goal changing to reflect small victories??

I like the idea of setting out a long term goal and keeping it in the forefront. Keeps me in the right frame of mind and no excuses to relax. At the same time I have used each 10 pound threshold as a personal benchmark. Right now I am looking at 230 as my goal weight with 8 pounds to go. Down from 295. Keep the good fight. I am sure you will get the results you want.

#1 That's understandable #2 I understand the place I weigh at frown on me disrobbing lol as for the next two great ideas also. I drink from bottles set them out for the day and smile when they are all empty. Goals are great, I think maintaining your happiness during the dieting phase is important. My goal doesnt depend on a chart, a scale or some crazy fitness guru. It's how I feel, when the rest of my belly fat goes, I will be satisfied! Good luck Sweetie!

The setting small goals sounds like an amazing idea! Thank you for the tip :) It definitely looks better than the 100 plus I have to lose.

I am counting calories, and I set the goal as a monthly average. This covers some of those days where I just eat like a piggy! I weighed at the beginning with and without pajamas - since I weigh weekly on Saturday morning, I just weigh in pj's and deduct the weight of the pj's. I set my weight goal - haven't really thought about small victories but I will now!

I love the 5 lbs at a time strategy. As you get closer to goal weight it gets more challenging to lose big pounds each week. Even 1-2 lbs. is a victory.
As far as weighing in with or sans clothes, I always weigh myself nude for 2 reasons. First, my hubby likes it ;-), second, my heart isn't pumping blood through my clothes so their weight is irrelevant. My doctor's office has their scale calibrated to weigh 2 lb. less in the summer and 3 lbs. in the winter to account for clothes and shoes.
You have to do you.😀

I understand what you're saying about the "fake out" loss. I weigh myself on Saturdays and wear the same yoga pants and t-shirt each time. For goals, I try to add to minutes/ intensity to my exercise or make one positive change per week. Full disclosure: I'm doing this more for heart health than weight loss. I can't lie though, seeing the number on the scale go down feels pretty nice!

I weigh myself in pajama bottoms and a camisole top. My scale weighs me exactly the same as my doctor's. Before I go to the doctor I try on different clothes and wear whatever makes me show the less weight! Denim jeans alone weigh about 2 pounds! I've tried drinking both small glasses of water and big glasses. I find right now that if I have a 32 oz glass of water sitting on the table next to me, I will drink it all. My first weight goal works out to 58 pounds. When I set it, I was thinking that at 150 pounds I would be able to do some easy hikes. Once I reach that goal, I'll set the next, and hopefully, last goal - probably 20 more pounds. I think if I set 5 pound goals I'd think it would be easy and end up not trying as hard. It all depends on how your head works!

Do whatever works for your brain, I like to see the bigger picture when I am looking at the graphs on the app. I do have a white board with mini goals and whatever reward I'm gifting myself when I meet it (like a facial, laser hair removal, new outfit). Sounds like you are working out what works for you, keep at it!

murphthesurf, Saturdays I play racquetball and I only own one pair of yoga pants. It's not that I put a lot of thought into what I'm wearing, it's more that it is what I happen to be wearing every time which works out for consistency. Exercise clothes are expensive and I don't want to buy a different set if I'm going to be a different size in a month anyway.

I'm trying to gradually reduce little things that add up - 1/2 tsp sugar in my tea rather than 1 (and I measure!) - now trying not to use much olive oil or butter to cook with. I never drink water - will add that to my list. Do in the summer when there's fresh mint but I just hate drinking plain water. I have lemon so will use that. I did the lemon/cayenne cleanse a couple times and liked that.
