Losing my Not-So-Better-Half 's dagbok, 26 feb 12

I've really been ignoring my weight and health. I guess I'm just not as confident I can get the weight off as I want to be, or even wish I could be. I'm starting to think the only way I'll ever get rid of the weight is if I have surgery. I'm trying to re-focus myself and restart my weight loss campaign for March 1st, but right now, I'm so discouraged, I don't even know what to do.

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I was in your same boat. I had a surgery and I am losing weight. I had the gastric sleeve. I hope things improve for you.

Even if you got surgery, you still have to change the way you eat and exercise. There is no magic formula. Take it 10 pounds at a time. Get yourself motivated. Get some fitness magazines, books out of the library, read online articles that will help you learn about nutrition and exercise. If you can afford it, higher a trainer for a few months to get you going on the exercise. If not, walk. Get a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps a day. Make a small home gym with light hand weights and a mat. Exercise dvds are cheap or you can get some out of the library. Walk away the pounds is a great one to start with and easy on the joints. Plan out your meals. Plenty of lean protein, lean dairy, fruits and veggies. Cooking light magazine has great recipes. They take regular foods and lighten them up (everything from lasagne to spaghetti, pot pies, etc.) Take it slow and make changes you can live with. No matter what you do, losing weight takes a lot of hard work. Good luck!

Why wait until March 1st? START TODAY!! Declare you control over food!! Clear out the cupboards and the kitchen from all items that are not conducive to your weight loss program!! Make a plan and celebrate [in a non food related way] every 5 pounds lost - remember, take baby steps and set sub goals... even if you have to acknowledge and celebrate EVERY SINGLE POUND LOST!!! Do it!! and START NOW!! Get off the diet roller coaster, and start seeing the scale move in the right direction... we're all here for you... just turn to us when your resolve's diminished... YOU CAN DO IT!! NEVER GIVE UP!! Best of Luck to You, me
