I shall have to find something better to eat for breakfast - I love the croissants - but I need better food value.

Very often, for my breakfasts, I have got natural high protein yoghurt; cutting 1 slice of cheese Gouda into small pieces and adding into yoghurt; also putting a handful of blueberries. What do you think about this idea? 😃

Do you have them in the house, or are you getting them out? I've found there are some foods I'm better off not keeping in the house. Not that I'd never eat another croissant -- they're lovely things -- but I prefer to put up a few barriers to myself so I'll keep them to special occasions. Makes them more of a treat to relish, actually, when it's not all the time

I adore croissants - and I can stop at one as I buy them fresh from the bakery nearby. and it's my new French diet that is causing this drop - However I am going to swap them out for my vegan yoghurt with fruit - but cheese is off menu at the moment it's too fattening and salty and i would never put it in yoghurt. I check my protein intake and I am still 'overconsuming' on it - just like evrybody else.

Have you watched the 'Glucose Goddess' channel on YouTube, she is very evidence based and she may have something in her past podcasts which would appeal to you.

Actually, I've seen Glucose Goddess debunked thoroughly at some truly evidence-based sources. IMO, she's unnecessarily scaring people about glucose spikes, which is actually a fairly normal process in healthy people. A lot of non-diabetic people are running around with CGMs and making dietary decisions less on health, but more on trying to game their glucose. My more cynical take is it's all about a narrative that sells unproven supplements. If you want solid nutritional advice from people who have studied nutrition thoroughly, try Layne Norton, Simon Hill, and Sigma Nutrition.

Nicola Guess is another good one, as is Dr. Karan -- Nicola was interviewed on Dr. Karan's YouTube and covered this topic as well as some others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOonrbt3n5g

my favourite you tube Dr is Dr Greger - all science based vegan ( he wrote 'how not to die') - and Dr jason Fung who does all tjhis intereting fasting stuff online

elizabeth - I forgot to mention my absolute fav - Gil Carvalho on the Nutrition Made Simple YouTube channel. Carvalho, Hill, and Norton are probably the ones I trust the most. Greger got me into trying veganism, but I've backed off of him because I think he is so convinced of the powers of veganism because of his personal history with his grandmother that he sometimes cherry picks a bit and makes claims not fully supported by the evidence. I get the impression from him sometimes that veganism is a cure-all, which it's not, rather than an avenue to good health if properly planned. Fung's book did not fare well in terms of scientific accuracy on Red Pen Reviews, although they gave him decent scores for healthfulness. I'd really encourage you to check out their reviews and their site at https://www.redpenreviews.org/. I have particular concern with what I understand of Dr. Fung's assertion that calories don't matter? I may be misunderstanding him, but Red Pen Reviews did call out clearly incorrect claims on his part. I also look with a little more of a jaundiced eye at diet proponents whose formal credentials are not in the field of nutrition. I have no doubt both Fung and Greger are smart and well-intentioned people, and I learned a lot from Greger, but you might want to explore some other evidence-based sources for some different perspectives. Yes, I've been obsessed with learning about nutrition the last couple of years. 😂 Really, the bulk of what I see that I trust is plant-forward, fish are probably beneficial, animal products in moderation, calories in moderation, move your body. I particularly respect that Hill and Carvalho are personally vegan, but will also discuss the benefits of some animal products, particularly fish, based on the evidence. Unfortunately, a sexier story telling people there's a magic bullet that will solve their weight problem sells better than saying eat your dang veggies like nutritionists have been saying forever. 😉

writingwyo - thanks for your input I understand what uou are saying - i don't follow these drs. blindly and i understand they both have flaws I do look into other diet and health information and stay ahead of all the most recent findings as it really interests me a great deal, - i've never heard of red pen reviews, i find that people who are in the 'field of nutrition' tend to promote what they have learned no matter how inaccurate it is - which is depressing - and there is the huge wight of the promotion and protection of the industries involved in foods which also really skews any data we may get - So yes I keep my eyes open and my mind open, I don't eat fish - not because they are not nutritious but because they are full of pollutants and toxins like mercury - I don't like meat, I especially hate the fat on meat - and I am lactose intolerant - so that's easy for me to avoid. Also the more I learn about the unbelievable cruelty involved in all the meat poultry and even farmed fish industries the less I am inclined to eat their sick unhealthy toxic products - and it's become really expensive too - which leaves the veggie diet - it's easier for me to get locally grown seasonal bio organic products - so that's what I try to do - it feels better and i'm loosing weight - so it's a win win for me!

Glad to hear it, elizabeth 😊 Forgive me if I was being pushy, pedantic, and/or tactless. I'm prone to all three 🤣 Have a great day! 😃
