Oops, posted when I was trying to edit. They taste like a mix of blackberries and raspberries, and they're very sweet and juicy!

Charles Rudolph Boysen bred a cross between a blackberry, raspberry and loganberry. Walter Knott (Knotts Berry Farm, CA.) brought it to market. They have an annual Boysenberry Festival each spring.

P.S. If ever headed that way my wife and kids all preferred Knotts Berry Farm to Disney Land. It has closer parking, thinner crowds, shorter lines and cheaper prices. I always preferred Magic Moutain. It has the most insane coasters.

I grew up in Northern California, been to Disneyland a few times, but never Knott's Berry Farm. Maybe I'll have to take my kids there one of these years, maybe hit the boysenberry festival and the theme park! Thanks for the tip!

If you go in the fall instead of spring, get tickets early. They started the whole Halloween theme park trend in the 80's with Knott's Scarry Farm. The whole park goes ghost and haunted house. That time of year tickets sell out way early. Be sure to eat in the restaurant out front of the park whatever else you do. Traditional 30's style fried chicken and sides with pie.
