To encourage our kids to eat the roasted Brussels sprouts with dinner, my husband proposed ice cream after dinner for everyone that ate 5 halves of Brussels sprouts. Kids negotiated down to 3 halves. 3 out of 4 kids ate enough to get ice cream. 1 kid ate a quarter of a sprout and decided it wasn't worth eating more, even for ice cream.

Sometimes in order to get our children to try new things we have to make compromises I think that sounds like a fair compromise. Not only did it set a fair limit on the ice cream it also you both taught compromise skills, limited the amount of excess of sweets allowed, encouraged the fourth child to attempt the exercise even though he/she didn't consume enough to achieve the treat they still tried and the exercise teaches savvy business skills for later in life. Overall, I would consider this parenting exercise as a fellow parent. 👍 Good job 😊
