So I have been actively tracking my calories since April 9th. I didn't necessarily start with the intention to track my calories as much as I wanted to be enlightened by what I was eating. I went from 2 cups of coffee during the day and having dinner, to trying to remember to get a Slim Fast shake in so I had "something" instead of nothing, and then I started looking at making a conscious effort to eat more.

It was amazing how I starved so much when I first started the plan to eat actual food during the day. Once I made time to stop what I was doing to eat, I found that I was just starving all the time. Very crazy change from fasting on Ash Wed and not thinking a thing about it, to feeling like I could just eat everything in sight!

The next step I took was figuring out things that were relatively low calorie but gave me long lasting fullness. I definitely don't think I have it mastered, but I think I am making some progress about it. I can see where veggies really are a great thing to get in! I can also see when I get halfway through a meal I am able to stop and decide that portion really was enough, I didn't have to eat the whole thing in one sitting (My Chipotle).

The weather has gotten nice and I try to squeeze in walks with my family. Our schedule is a little crazy so typically by the time I leave work, get home, have dinner it's almost sunset. Then we tried walking first and coming home for dinner after and that just felt so late to be eating. I think we will just walk when we can and I can be better about putting aside 30min for myself to take a stroll on the treadmill. That's hard for me because I really enjoy that time with my family and once the kids (5 kiddos) are in bed, I enjoy the time with my husband (just us). I know 30min may not be a big deal but I never feel like I have enough time as it is.

I haven't been tracking my food here, I just try to touch base on it from time to time to see where I was at my last visit and touch base with where I am now. Just an interesting thing to do I guess. I also enjoy reading different people's posts about things.

Til next time :)
