My last weigh-in for Fat Secret was 10-13-2017. On October 22, 2017, I fell off my front steps while carrying an approximately 60 pound box, and shattering both my legs below the knees down to the ankles and was hospitalized for 4 days, (after surgery on both legs and numerous plates, screws and rods used to repair my legs); almost 2 weeks of Intensive in-patient physical and occupational therapies at Frazier Rehab Institute in Louisville, KY, another 2 months of Home Health care (OT and PT) and 3 months of out-patient physical therapy (still attending PT). During this time of dealing with trauma to my legs and being limited on what I could do, I learned to control my portions in conjunction with all the physical therapies every day. The healing process and exercise is what I believe jump started by metabolism. As of today I have lost 35 pounds since Oct 22, 2017. I continue to heal and give my all in physical therapy.

off the wagon and picked up on carbs, so back on again. Experimented with diabetic medication (dr. approved) and did not take for 6 months to see if could control A1C without medication, and NO. Did not work for me....so now back on low does of Metformin and on a statin drug due to increased cholesterol levels (220 total cholesterol) which is common with diabetics.
So now back to a more structured diet with exercise. Lets see if I can be assisted with meds to get this baby back under control.

Eating at least 2 fruits a day (usually a granny smith apple for breakfast or an orange for breakfast) and then one of the mentioned fruits in the afternoon around 2:30 pm for snack. Salad for lunch or a couple of vegetables or legumes, like green beans, baby lima beans, bean soup or brusselsprouts, etc.
For dinner (around 5:30 pm), a medium salad or a small bowl of a stew with vegetables and a lean meat. Nothing else to eat the rest of the night.
Around 8:00 pm, I work out to build muscle. CORE exercises, and dumbbells for upper body working until muscle failure. The muscle building is beginning to pay off.
Of-course, during the day, I continue to take 6-7 flights of stairs 2-3 times per day and walking 30 min per day.

Fruit for breakfast (working great and satisfying...it really has curbed any cravings for unhealthy snacks); salads for lunch or 2 pieces of whole wheat whole grain bread with either peanut butter (2 tablespoons) or some low(er) sodium deli meat like turkey or just plain ham (not sugar cured) or sliced deli chicken. Then for supper, I may have a very veggie salad or may have some type of roast with cooked veggies.
During the day, I and a co-worker continue to walk for approx. 30 min total either on lunch or during breaks and then take the stairs (6 flights) several times daily. When I get home in the evenings (around 5 pm), I use dumbbells on shoulders, lats, pecs, and bi and triceps until muscle failure. Building muscle is key to ongoing weight loss.

Metabolism has really kicked since started eating something light in the morning like fruit rather than something heavy like eggs bacon or sausage.
So now, if I want eggs bacon or sausage, I will eat that during my lunch (no more than 1-2 times per week); and then for dinner I will have a large salad (with avocado, numerous salad veggies and a little raspberry walnut vinaigrette) around 6:00 pm est. and not have anything else before bed time between 11:00 pm and midnight.
During the daytime at work, I walk for 30 minutes and then take 6 flights of stairs 3 times or more per day for cardio.
Around 8-9 pm, I work out with dumbbells on shoulders, biceps, triceps, lat muscles and pectoral muscles. Then for a finishing touch for upper body, I do push ups until muscle failure. Then some crunches.
Shower and then bed....no cravings, no hunger, except in the mornings like a vampire at night, I must Feed...in my case, on fruits like oranges and apples.
On my way to my goal....I Push forward.
