It's Saturday and I'm not in St. Louis.


My cold got the better of me. I was all packed and ready to go. I had my food ready, my ice pack filled, my critters all fed and watered, the car all cleaned out and I was dressed. I had an oil change and the low beams repaired in my car. The only thing I hadn't done was pack my pillow and the bi-pap. Dorcas called about 4:30 yesterday to see if they should pick me up and switch everything over to my car (she has a Prius and there were 4 of us going with sleeping gear and everything for the weekend . . . I have an SUV. We were going to have to take mine.) I decided right then that it wouldn't be a good idea. It's a good thing. I was up all night coughing and we were all going to be sleeping in one room. It would have been a disaster.

I actually feel a little better today but I can't hear and I can't smell anything. I feel like I'm in a bubble. The only good thing about it is I hate the smell of the face cream I'm using and I couldn't smell a thing when I put it on today. LOL! My cough is still a problem and my ribs are sore, but I feel more alert and since it's only the third day, that's a good thing. Maybe this one isn't going to be so bad.

It's been in the low to middle 60s all week and very windy, but this morning I woke up to a dusting of snow. Weird! This has been the strangest winter/non-winter. I keep waiting for all hell to break loose. So far, so good.

I'm really having trouble staying on my WOE. I don't know what the problem is. I have all of the right foods in the house and available. It's like my head is in a totally different place. I'm nine lbs over my lowest weight and just don't seem to be able to regain the motivation to get moving down again. I know for a fact it's calories in, calories out. I know when I put those extra calories in my mouth. For the most part, the extras are healthy foods but they're still extra. I'm broken.

Awww I hate you had to miss your trip..colds suck..This winter has been a doozy..the wind here is awful..dreading to get out and feed at this point..I looked up Bob's Red Mill on the internet..awesome read...I put it in my favorites to look over again...Will take your advice and really check all labels..I have done this before for all kinds of things...Will be looking at Pamela's bread too..sometimes you just want a sandwich..Right?...to day for lunch I had Luck's Fat Free Pintos..and Bob Evans mashed potatoes..only had to put them in the microwave for a few and wal la lunch..no bread..until I can find the right kind...Love you sweetie..and hope you can stop the madness of eating..:O)

Bren, this is the bread mix I use and it's amazing, as the name says. Pamela's Products Amazing Wheat Free & Gluten-free Bread Mix. This is the cornbread mix. Pamela's Products Cornbread & Muffin Mix. These are the best tasting and most nutritious replacements I've found so far. Actually, my DIL found them for me. Yes, sometimes you just want bread. You can get subscriptions on Amazon and they are about the normal cost of regular bread when you break it all down. Love you too.

Johanne, so sorry you are still sick. Like you, I have gone through this period of "turning my brain off" and snacking at night, low carb, but still too much. I also snacked on sf Russell Stover candy. I am not buying it anymore. As for bread, I found wonderful bread at http://www.julianbakery.com. This is availabel in health-food stores as well as on line. They have gluten free, low carb, all healthy. It seems to help curb my appetite, so I'm on now my way into onderland. I get 6 or more loaves, thus save on shipping. Now I have my daughter and a friend order it too. We have it shipped to me and split the shipping cost. Get well my friend, hugs!

Gigi, thanks for the info. These breads and their ingredients look amazing, but there is no way I can afford $7 for a 1 lb loaf + shipping. If I ever win the lottery, I know where I will get my bread. LOL! Big hugs back!!!

Yes, Sazy, you're right. I misunderstood. Thanks for clearing it up. And, you're right again. I'm not broken. I'm just not functioning well just now, but I'm still keeping track, which, in the old days, I wouldn't have done. I love Bren's countdown. Even though it has been a very mild winter so far, I can't wait for things to turn green again. My gall bladder surgery has been scheduled for the 19th. They're actually going to hospitalize me instead of doing outpatient because of the whole heart thing. :-( I should have my heart rate monitor before then. The blood pressure cuff will have to wait until April. As soon as I'm healed from the surgery, I should be able to up my activity. I can't wait to start feeling great again! I didn't know they had "Chairobics." I'll have to see if I get fitness TV. If I do, I don't have it selected. Thanks for the info! XOX

Hi, Miss Bonnie. I agree, you aren't broken but your body is sick and once you have had your surgery, I know you will start feeling like looking into improving your food habits. As you know, I have been absent for a while, but it's cause I have been trying to figure out where I strayed. I know my body isn't well enough to handle spike days. I am a diabetic with IBS... last thing I need to do is overload my stomach one day a week. LOL! It certainly screwed me up, I can tell you. I think that would be a great diet for people with fairly healthy metabolisms. (Mine is far from healthy). Anywho, hand in there lady... we will both get this figured out. I am still working on it.
