Today I have been searching for something to hold on to-something to make me feel better! I'm reading a lot of interweb-ketosis information, and setting personal goals. It's not been easy-this is day two of low carbs (52g). I realize that this is over the 50g recommended for Ketosis; but, like I said this is day two. I have also been eating between 11:00 am and 19:00 pm and my calorie intake is at 40% deficit. This is my first time on a strict diet; I usually eat a lot of carbohydrates and sugar has always been my friend. I don't feel hungry per say; but, I am cranky and I've had a bit of a dull headache. My energy levels are good-but I'm not exercising yet. 1/4 cup of walnuts equal 200 calories?!

It might take a bit to wrap you mind around fats/calories and how the LCHF/ Ketogenic way of eating works...but it does work! Welcome and best wishes on your goals :)

Thank you.

It gets easier. I thought it would be hell to give up bread, pasta and high carb fruits... oh and beer, especially. It wasn't that bad at all. It all started 19 pounds ago, so I can attest that it does work. The additional exercising is the most important. It doesn't take much, really. Just get out and walk to start.

I like your profile Lunaray...you have three really good reasons besides yourself to motivate you on the road ahead. Find a path that works for you, that you can sustain within your family and social circle dynamics, and then shoot for consistent month after month improvements instead of a sprint to a finish line...long term health, fitness and quality of life is the end goal. Good luck on your journey, we are here for you!! BTW, we all started at some place or another on the journey, you are well on your way already by just being here!!

Hold on there and once the headaches go, you'll feel revitalised! It doesn't stop you feeling awful now though. Be strong and stick with it, you'll reap the benefits 👍

Concentrate on eating the fats % in your program. 80% of your calories -then you won't be hungry for the other stuff. Avocados are great. Try sour cream and pecans with a drop or two of stevia. You can do this (I've lost 80 lbs.)

Make sure to drink 1 cup of bouillon in the AM and one at night to help with the headache. Check out the Diet Doctor free web sight (https://www.dietdoctor.com/) for lots of LCHF information and great food ideas. I would encourage you to try the 2-week challenge from them as they walk you through the keto adaptation process. I have been Keto since September 23rd and have lost 30lbs, more importantly after I became fully Keto adapted I do not have to carb load on long bike rides. Hang in, the first two weeks are tough and if your are doing exercise you will find your performance may drop for a while but when it comes back you will know it was all worth it.

Welcome aboard! There are some very smart and supportive folks here. They have pulled me from the brink several times in my journey. When you're doing Keto, don't worry about counting calories...especially in the beginning. Eat when hungry, eat to satiety, and keep your salt levels up. Keto is naturally diuretic, so salt is necessary to preevent cramping and headaches. The bouillon suggestion will help with that.

Are you taking any vitamins? I honestly think they are the only thing keeping me sane! Of course I started taking them before I decided to change my eating habits and they helped me get off my antidepressant! A good multivitamin might be beneficial to you as well.
