Oops! I did it again. I was out and about, taking care of some personal business, and got a call from my sister; "Where are you?", "Headed in your direction."; "Well, I feel like eating at 'XYZ', Buffet, restaurant, stop by when you are finished, and join me."; I would have been okay, had I stopped it right there. It's my Achilles' heel; a free lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, and the last time we'd be eating there this year. I already knew what I was going to eat when I got back home, and it was going to be low carb. It could have been worse, but I did have some nigri sushi, and they frown upon, and charge extra, for people who eat it without the rice. As said, it could have been worse, because in the past, I've eaten 2-3 times the amount of sushi that I'd eaten, and still helped myself to an assortment of other high carb goodies, without regard to my waistline. Though it could have been worse, still I feel guilty for not declining the invitation and avoiding the temptation altogether. The rest of my meal was relatively low carb, veggies and meat, with minor exceptions, and washed down with green tea, sweetened with stevia. It, unnecessarily, sets me back, so that it takes me another 3-4 days to get back into fat burning mode. I guess one day it will sink it; sometimes it's better to just say; "No thanks, you go, and enjoy yourself". Having exercised some restraint, I should be proud of myself; but I can't help thinking, it would have been better if I'd just said, No! Sorry folks, but I just had to get this rant off my chest.

Awe! The worst part (aside from the disappointment you feel in yourself) is knowing that it will take 3-4 days to get back on track! Just remind yourself of how you felt AFTER splurging. For me, every time I cheat just a bit, I feel terrible and wonder why did I do it in the first place. At least you aren't in denial and you've come too far to fall off the wagon. So back on track today! One meal at a time!!!!

Don't beat yourself up about this. What is done is done and can't be unchanged. The one thing that I've learned is that there will always be a reason to eat off plan and every time it happens I get to learn a little something new about how to deal with it. This is more than just a weight loss journey, it is about discovering yourself as well.

This is a hard lesson, one indulgence, 3 to 4 days paying the price. You will come to the point where you remember and say "no thank you". I am getting better at it. We will do this together and celebrate one day that we overcame the pull that food had over us.

BTW, when I did that weight gain I did not want to "see" it or post it here. One of our members urged me to weigh in and face it. You know I did that, faced the music. It actually helped me get back on track. You may want to do that too, but it's strickly up to you.
