I actually joined this website before I was ready to begin. I was cruising diet info and websites one day and saw this one. It was new to me and for fear I'd lose it if I didn't join right away, I did. But my plan is to actually begin next week. Oh, I know we've all heard and said that before, but I work for a High school. My daily job is beyond stressful. It's my first year here and I've never experienced anything like it in all the district jobs I've had. Graduation is this weekend. The last days of school, this week of getting everything ready-the stress is extreme and will be gone on on Sunday night. Then I'll have 8 weeks of stress free living to get a head start on what I need to change. I've had summers off before and always do better when I'm not working. I think at this point I'm fighting for my life, not just to look better, or even feel better. Does anyone else feel that way?

I've researched diets and have chosen one. I'm curious though. I tried the new Weight Watchers and even being experienced at the previous forms of points, I found this one to be (in my opinion) ridiculously difficult. Sure, Oprah can do it with all the help she has. Has anyone on this website used it and found it to be easy to follow as the previous versions were?

Well, first of all, I understand setting a start date when you have time off. I actually had nine days off in a row to be at home, measuring my meals, logging my food, and obsessively checking this site and reading journals and forums. Second, used to do Richard Simmons Deal-a-Meal and FoodMover. I loved the concept, but the act of measuring out foods I used to binge on was too much for me. I had to draw a line somewhere. I can't eat one piece of toast. I want six, but restrain myself to eat only four. It's easier for me to not eat bread at all. Measuring out a half cup of ice cream? Are you kidding? I'd save my calories so I could have two half cups and I'd really smoosh it down in there! To tell the truth, the people on here who follow the low carb, high fat ketogenic diet have it right. It is safe, effective and reduces inflammation. That being said, I can't see my life with no rice and no beans right now. I have gone sugar free, and that is going great. I did look at your food diary in the beginning, and (it sounds bad to say this) if you choose any plan in the world you can live with and just stop drinking pop and cook your meals at home instead of eating out, it will make a difference in how you feel. You can always shift direction. I can't believe I'm drinking water all day every day, but I am and I love it.

Sorry, I didn't really answer your question. I don't know anything about Weight Watchers. They do have a forum on here, though.

Welcome to FS, JEN! We will all be here when you get ready! Yes, I feel/felt that way. When I first started my journey, I was on blood pressure, anxiety, and depression meds. Then the Dr wanted to start me on cholesterol meds, and told me I was pre diabetic at 36 years old, 5'5" & 243 lbs. Now, I honestly could care less if I lost another lb, but I know I must continue with my way of eating to maintain my health. My personal plan of choice is LCHF/KETO. IF you'd like to do some research on it, dietdoctor.com is a great place to do so. Good luck to you on your journey!

Yes I do. I watched my mom die from complications of obesity and diabetes. I've been deciding to NOT be like that since. I can't do that to my kids. It's a great community. Very supportive.
