I was doing some reading this morning about the recommended balance of carbs, protein, and fats. So from what I read, I think I will try a secondary goal of hitting my intake to

45% to 65% of calories from carbs,
10% to 30% of calories from protein, and
20% to 35% of calories should be from fat.

My primary goal will still be the reducing the calories to hit about 1700-1800 per day.
