Has anyone else noticed that the carb count for some foods is way off and completely inaccurate? I had turkey smoked sausage and sauerkraut for dinner last night but when I entered the info it said I had like 50 some carbs! There's only 1 carb per serving! I just manually enter the I do, is it better to scan the product barcode instead?

A lot of the foods have been added by members. Brands can vary ALOT! I usually go by what is on MY packaging. If I don't have the information I try to go middle of the road. I set my own rdi and pay no attention to exercise amounts on here.

OK good it's not just me then?! lol My rdi was ridiculously high, like 2600 calories! I'm trying to lose weight people!! I keep it around 1500 on my own which is a little more than I was doing on my own before FS. But since I'm eating more healthy fat I think it works out good for me.

I would use the brand you had for dinner. I sometimes use what others enter if I dont have the brand in there. But usually I will add the item into the system if its not listed. Also if you would of weighed the sausage before you ate it you could get the exact ounces you ate. I notice weighing my food gives me a better estimate of what I actually ate than using measuring cups

I wish I had a food scale because I would have weighed it. I've been experimenting today with using the barcode feature and checking it against the package and it's worked great, so when I can I'll scan them.

Hey Jendzen, there are for sure a few quirks that are inherent in the FS calorie counting app as noted by Caeser and others. For sure set your activity as sedentary when setting RDI...it may still be too high but it will be closer to a real #, also set your desired weight loss at maximum too. Calories burned for each activity is at best a rough approximation, however as long as you are consistant in how you enter things it will give you useful trends and variances. Like Panigale, I measured food and still do every now and again...it is almost impossible to get a handle on portion size without weighing and measuring until you get comfortable with actually how much 3 oz. of meat is, how much 1/3 cup of shredded cheese looks like, etc. Good luck!!

THe Barcode is hard to do also. As a diabetic the dietitian said not to count carbs under 5carb.this counts every carb. I'm glad someone else see this.

Good advice Stephen, thanks. I'm going to reset my numbers so they are more accurate. It's crazy to see I've eaten 1500 calories and it says I still have like 1300 left! lol
