I went to my weight doctor yesterday. Weighed in and recorded a 5 pound loss since I saw her last month and a reduction in body fat with an increase in muscle but what bothered me I lost a fraction of an inch in height. I know that is an inevitable part of getting older but it still bothers me. The doctor only measures my height, and body composition every few months but it is depressing to know there are changes in your body for which you can do nothing. I guess I have to bury that knowledge somewhere in the back on my mind so it doesn't bother me as much.

I am 63 and am 5'3 & 1/4" this was as of 2 years ago when I had a bone mass test. Before I had always been 5'4", so it happens to all of us.

I know it is a part of "getting older" and it is better than the alternative, I guess - lol

Well, this is interesting. I thought it was just me. I was always 5'5 (I thought), then 5'4, then just this past month went to the dr and I was 5'3. I freaked a little as that means technically, by my height, I need to lose even more. BOOOOOO!

Maybe the bottom of your feet were fat, and the top of your head, that just got thinner with the 5 pound loss. Think positive!

Check out Gokhale method. Gokhalemethod.com It's true 😢 our spines get more squished and compressed over time ', plus maybe some bone loss and compression of disks But this seems to be worse in the US compared to the older generation of Europeans (sadly some of the younger Euros are starting to stand and sit just like Americans) or from places still engaged in physical labor. They found the old way we used to stand and sit was straighter and was done without muscling it (with relaxation). If one sticks to practicing their method, over time more space is gained between the spinal disks and the spine becomes less curved overall, less compressed (ie, you can get taller by 1/4 - 1/2 inch or perhaps maintain what you have and not get as stooped) and of course pain is reduced if one has any because those pinched nerves get released. I'm taking a class now and I love it. It hasn't changed my height, but I'm still a beginner. I'm only 2 sessions out of 10 into it so far. But I'm already really happy with the change in my posture - already standing and sitting much straighter without the effort.

That's very interesting, lovelife, I will look into that. I always thought that this was just a natural part of the aging process.
