Holiday weekend meal tips: log your big meal(s) ahead of time. Then plan your calories around that. There's no shame in calling ahead for the menu and packing a measuring cup and food scale for the barbecue. enjoy 👍I load up on fruit veggies and meats and skip all the rest knowing I can eat a fair amount of all those and still not go way over calories

I would suggest NOT taking your equipment with you . It will make you uncomfortable, your hostess and probably others. If you have been doing this for any length of time, you can give an educated guess at what a portion looks like. Make the best choices possible, but also allow yourself a small amount of something special that you would like to have. Deprivation does not work. LEARNING to make smarter choices and eating just a little less does. This is not a diet, this is a lifestyle change and the goal is to be able to live in the real world, with real food and to conquer your demons.

Do what works for you GigiDunaway. Your family and friends will likely support you on this phase of your health journey. It took me a really long time to learn portion sizes without measuring, so if that's what you need right now, go for it!
