I met with the nutritionist yesterday. I lost 2 pounds in the month since our last meeting. She says that because of the CHF I have, water retention is common and water is heavier than fat. So she is saying I probably lost more body mass than the scale is telling me. The problem is a higher than normal intake of sodium. My refrigerator went to appliance heaven two weeks ago and my landlord didn't replace it until today! I do have a working compact freezer similar in size to a dorm fridge. for lack of a better option, I stocked it with Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones and Healthy Choice dinners. Lunches were sardine sandwiches (thank God I like them) and canned soup. Breakfast was scrambled eggs on a hard roll from the deli downstairs. The landlord finally gave me a loaner fridge until a new one arrives. I've tried to stay as close to the diet as possible and thankfully I had no cravings thanks to the Ozempic. I'm back on my regular schedule starting today except I'm finishing off the frozen dinners as lunches. The less sodium intake will hopefully allow the diuretic to eliminate the excess water. Other than that, all is well and as always I am very optimistic.

How long were you on ozempic before you noticed it was helping you? I have someone close to me who started a few weeks ago and is saying they are not noticing any decreased hunger or other help which im so sad about.

I was able to stay on my food plan from the beginning. It got even easier once I got to .5 and then to 1.0 where I'll be staying for a while. Tell your friend to stick with it. Also remind them that Ozempic is just a tool. They still have to do the work.

James its a tricky subject. I have mentioned that it will help with satiety but they still need to change their woe for life. And that they should be shooting for 1200-1400 calories total a day to lose not the 3000+ i think they are probably getting. Given that this person travels a lot and eats out a lot and likes to go wine tasting as well as high sugar Starbucks. Im hoping the desire for this stuff diminishes via ozempic. Think it will?

I found that many of my habits changed with the Ozempic. Food consumption went down because hunger is hardly ever there, in fact I discovered in my case, nausea was an indicator that I'm actually hungry. I've had no desire at all for sweets or alcohol and The amounts of food desired is substantially less. I actually feel satisfied with a small salad and a Lean Cuisine although I still prepare most meals. I've also heard of instances of smokers losing interest in tobacco and other compulsive disorders subsiding. The nutritionist says that even though they don't fully understand all the mechanics of how the compound works, it affects the reward center in the brain and in people with certain obsessive or compulsive desires, it works for the better. Just don't expect it to do all the work. There is not a morsel of food that does not get weighed or measured and logged on my Fat Secret Food Log. As for 3,000 KCal. That's what I was gaining weight with. I now try to never go more than 1,500 or 1,600. My starting weight at 3,000+ calories was 365 pounds. Todays weigh in was 325 pounds. The loss was not quick, it took 6 months to get to 325 and I'm willing to take as long as it takes to get to my first major goal of 250 and my ultimate goal of 200 and a sane maintenance diet after that..

year of health I've been on ozempic for about a year and half now and at first I didn't quit drinking my Mt dew and eating awfully and even though I didn't I went from 374 to 361 and then April was one year on it I went to 353.within the first couple weeks I lost 6lbs and had I tried better probably would have lost more weight. then I started fs in June and quit drinking Mt dew and tracking my calories and have lost 40lbs in Four mo but it is getting hard to get ozempic and it's been on backorder for awhile now I have not received mine now 2mg dose for a Month and I can tell that I have still lost weight tracking cal but only 2pounds so it does help but you must try and do good on it to really get the best results.. now that I'm thinking about it, this may be the reason why I have been eating around 2,000cal a day instead of the 1700i was eating because I don't have my usual amount of ozempic and have been hungrier but starting today I will be buckling back down and sticking to the 1700-1800cal I was eating.. FS and other apps say I need 2300but I cut my cal down to help loose weight. not having any ozempic maybe why I only lost about 2lbs this mo Bec I been eating more.. uugh I will keep you updated on how it goes. I'm going to try my hardest to stick with the original plan of 1700-1800 I will see how much I loose for November hopefully I can continue the 10lb a mo

Saranchrisriley-have you spoken with a nutritionist? I would think 12–1400 calories a day is what’s needed for weight loss for most women? Not judging just dont think the recommendations are accurate on these sites. If i followed what they suggested for me i would be gaining weight. Im in maintenance at under 1400 calories a day. I would think your weight loss would be much faster. Just a thought.

Year of health last year I saw a nutritionist and she wanted me on 1800-2000cal a day for my weight and height and other things that they take into account for it so that's why I was doing 1700 and doing good just these last couple weeks since I have not had my ozempic I have been feeling hungrier and I have not been sleeping well and stressed out so far this Mon only lost a couple pounds but I am starting again at 1700-1800cal no matter what, I can do it I've done it before but I lost 110lbs and was down to 200lbs about 10yrs ago but I started myself and was addicted to pain meds and only ate a can of pinto beans a day and lost in 4 and half months lost 110lbs but gained it all back plus some when I went back to eating and got sober. This time I'm doing what I can to make it a lifestyle and lifetime change little bit at a time and it is working but even if I only lost 2-3lbs a month I'm still loosing weight which is making me healthier than I was so I'll take any loss, especially since I am not gaining and that's a good thing..

Yoh I have a awful thyroid and my meds work sometime and then the rest of the time I feel like they aren't working. But with so many medical problem like PCOS and thyroid problem a slower thyroid to be exact it makes it harder to loose weight for me but I won't give up or make excuses either it's time to get back to where I want to be. And I feel like I can do that with counting calories because I never knew I used to eat probably around 3500-4000cal a day and carbs we're easy 300or more because of the Mt dew I drank and just eating bigger plates of food not knowing really what I was consuming, that's why I love the fs app and family for support and encouragement to..

Saran i completely understand medical issues. I have a sluggish thyroid, im in adrenal gland failure which slows metabolism way down and i have a progressive pulmonary disease. I do understand. I had to take my calories down last year to sub 800 just to get the scale to move. Ive been able to add muscle while ive been losing which has allowed me to slowly add calories back. Im so sorry for the struggles you have experienced. Food issues are never fun. I have been able to get off my thyroid medication over this past year which is exciting. I hope the same for you.

I struggle with sodium too.

Thank you yoh yes I will love to get off thyroid meds and Morticia I really struggling with sodium intake level and it causes me bloating and no matter if I drink a half gallon or gallon of water it stays on me alot of the time due to the sodium I must say I have to find some lower sodium foods I like.

I have congestive heart failure and have to limit my sodium intake. I have found many salt free spice blends that I use in food preparation that have me not using a salt shaker at all. The only sodium I consume is in commercially prepared food and I still keep that under the recommended amount. For the spice blends I have used a web site called spicesinc.com. There are also many blends available in the supermarket and on other web sites. Just watch out for the terms "Reduced Sodium" or "Less Sodium" on any product. The FDA has restrictions on the amount of sodium per serving in order to be called Low Sodium or Sodium Free. Hope this helps.

James can you recommend a spice blend? I try and limit salt but sometimes….

There are several blends sold by Dash. I also use a sodium free adobo blend from Spices Inc. There are several other brands. Best to Google Salt free spice blends to see what's available.
