I am struggling. I’m doing really well at staying to my 1500 calorie daily intake most days. A few days I have gone over but not often and not terribly. Over. I see the pictures of what everyone is eating and I’m blown away. I’m not good at exotic meal planning and it seems the portion size is hard to maintain and stay within 1500 calories. I’ve been doing this for 7 weeks and have lost less than 9 pounds. Weight loss at 64 is just so hard.

9# in that time is fantastic! You're embarking on a life long jou of better eating and exercise. I was your age when I started my healthier lifestyle. I've lost #105 and maintained it for 7 months, within a few pounds. You are doing what works for you. That's the Key, along with adding in something to be more active. Remember this is Not a Diet! It is a New Healthy Way of Life! You're on the right track. You've got this!

We all struggle and are right there with you. Age doesn’t help I know but there is no need to make exotic meals. Mine are super simple. For me, protein shakes have helped to keep me full. Hey just under 9 lbs loss is a win in my book! A loss is a loss. It will take time, patience and consistency for sure. You will get there, one day at a time! 💜

You are actually doing very well. When someone has less to lose (like say 35 pounds) those pounds are VERY HARD to earn! So..... CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Celebrate and be kind to yourself! Consistency is key and that is what you are doing! For me - not so much! I have a very difficult time staying under 1800 cals. I almost always go to 2000. This is undoubtedly why I am up 17 from my low of 207...... I have been maintaining this for about 6 months. I can't seem to make the sacrifices necessary to get down to 1500 - like you are! I'm certain that I need to be at that calorie intake to drop these pounds. I have been doing this for over 2 years now. I lost a bunch in the first 18 months because I had SO MUCH extra!!!!! Now that the going gets tough, I wimp out! Today is another day. You and I will make good choices and feel glad about it - no matter what the scale says!!! Let's go!!

You are doing great but the struggle is real. Sometimes it feels like the work of planning, tracking and saying no to certain foods and portions is not in line with the results ...seriously ... If I am being good, I want bigger results .:: Lol... When I first got back on a plan I actually wished that I could sleep through the first days as my body adjusted to the difference in eating and portions. I also considered going to the Dr. To get those shots people are taking ... Now I am just trying to do this the hard way which I think will be better in the end... Good luck... You are going in the right direction !

Before you get overly excited and jealous of what everyone else is eating here, take a peek at their current weight. Stay strong and steady with your 1500/day allowance, enjoy leafy greens if you need more filling fiber to slay the hunger, and you'll hit your goal weight 💚

You are doing great. I don’t cook fancy meals and eat pretty bland meals like a protein and vegetable or fruit. I keep it very simple so that it is easy to stay on track. You got this!

The nutritionists I’ve learned from said 1500 is too low. Your body may need more calories so it doesn’t feel starving and hold onto fat.

Nine pounds in seven weeks ! That's awesome ! I'm 62, and it is much harder to lose at our age. I need to stay at 1000 or less cals. a day to lose, and some weeks I lose nothing at 1000. Congrats, that's something to celebrate in my book !

Hey Parrishpack, go look at my food diary. :) I am on a ketogenic diet for my diabetes and the side bonus is a relief from hunger I cannot describe. I don't have hunger. It goes against the last 50 yrs of 'fat is bad sugar is good' science, but we are now into 'fat is good, sugar is bad' and it can be hard even for doctors to switch that around in their heads. On high fat, low carb, I have slow burning energy that can last for days. I just don't have energy drops any more. I don't have anxiety about meals at all. I eat few items, stuff I really like. And I eat as much as I want so long as the foods I choose are as high fat as I can get my hands on. There's only so much you want, your body naturally rebalances to it over time. My calorie 'limit' is 1500. I don't take it too seriously but you can see, sometimes I'm 900 cals. Those are days I forgot to eat. I have never 'forgotten to eat' in my life before this. xx

Thank you everyone. The encouragement was much needed today. Some days are rough. I will keep going. We’ve got this.

As long as you eat 3 meals per day and have half your plate be veggies and a quarter be protein and a quarter be a healthy carb such as a whole grain bread or sweet potato then your calories count won't matter much. And if your like me and have to have a calorie count then try dropping it to 1200 one or two days a week. And if you go a little over it's fine. I have noticed I don't lose any weight when I go over my 1500 calorie max. I'm 42, 5'8' and 328 pounds as of this morning and I struggle with the fluctuations of 5 pounds up to 333 pounds but I always lose a pound when I drop those calories just a little. Even if I have ice cream for dessert. Low sugar or course since I'm trying to stave off diabetes as I am pre-diabetic. I think your doing awesome. I too feel like it took forever to lose 10 pounds. I am a few months in and started at 345. You can do it. ps. I am also definitely NOT a cook.
