A few years ago I started having daily migraines. I’ve had migraines my whole life (ie migraine disease). I had been very active, healthy and fit. When I was struggling with daily migraines I gave up for a time, became depressed and turned to food and stopped moving. I gained 40lbs. This only exasperated how horrible I felt. Eventually I found periods of time of relief, & a couple podcasts on weightlifting and began to turn my life back around. I have continued to research how to cure migraine disease for me. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on non traditional medical options, tried multiple elimination diets. Recently, after a lot of research, I decided to try Keto. It was designed for migraine and epilepsy patients. I eat only food that had a mom and came from the ground, no seed oils (they are poisonous to the body), a couple different types of nuts, berries and plain Greek yogurt. I lift weights (follow a program), walk, hike, yoga, mtn bike, meditate and my last puzzle piece is to perfect my sleep routine. Result: migraines are weekly not daily. I’ve lost fat, size and weight. I don’t think keto is everyone’s answer, but food is healing. And our why is certainly critical. Good luck everyone!

if you are curious to take it a step up from keto- look into carnivore or the lion diet it'll be a good way to eliminate all extra inflammatory food and really pick and choose one food at a time and really discover where these migraines are coming from; what foods trigger them?

I’m glad you found some relief. I used to have headaches daily, but not migraines. I have occasional ocular migraines now but pain free. I learned (1) to eat by the clock and not miss meals, (2) only occasionally eat nuts, and (3) keep macros balanced. I also can’t take calcium supplements or drink milk/eat cold cereal with milk. Plus, I got computer glasses. Each thing reduced the number per week then per month, finally stopped (as long as I eat a good macros balance on time including fats). It’s really wonderful you found a big part of the solution! Don’t stop looking!

Congratulations on finding something that works for you. I get migraines too but luckily before I get a full blown one I usually get an ocular migraine. It is my saving grace. As soon as that happens I can deal with it before it gets to bad.

Thanks for sharing your story. I have 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. My oldest daughter suffers from migraines as well as a colleague of mine. My daughter is not a big meat eater. She used to be but now doesn’t care for it but I will share your keto story w her anyway. Anything to try and help, migraines are nasty. Glad you have found some relief.
