I am needing some reassurance and motivation. I haven't gone to the gym since last Thursday, and I am noticing it. :( It's like the longer I DON'T go, the more I don't want to go back. UGH. Please help!

Every so often I get tired of going to gym as well but I make myself stick to my routine and that feeling passes. Occasionally when it doesn't, I mix things up a bit and go for a hike or ride my bike etc.

It helps me to have a specific goal to work towards. With that in mind, I plan the night before to either exercise indoors or outside. The past couple of days it's been beautiful, so outside wins. I noticed that you also walk a lot, MReese93. Have you tried varying your route to stimulate your senses? For instance, today I started my walk on a route with lots of steep hills, but then detoured when I saw a path to the canyons that I've never taken. Two miles later when I came out to a paved path, I bumped into a couple on a tandem bike, so we chatted a bit. So this 7 mile trip has got me excited for tomorrow's workout because I changed it up and made it more interesting. Maybe your workouts just need something different now.

Include that 4 year old in an adventure. Small little backpack with water and nuts and raisins. A hat, sun screen, magnifying glass. This may not burn a ton of calories but will make an adventure for you and start him on the road to fun, healthier habits. Anything you can include him in on is a win/win for both of you. Do exercises to a tv class. Get him a little yoga mat, some play weights, dance with him to the music in the living room. Now that summer is here maybe you can knockout a couple of miles after he goes to bed or work on your weight routine or dance to the music. But by all means I clude him, it is sooo very important.

It’s tough but you need to create a reason to go. Make a plan to meet someone there.

I keep hearing those who have made some real transformation say consistency is key. So consistently going back even after missing a few days is a WIN! You can do this. It's going to feel so good when you feel good in your body!

Hey Mreese93, i don't post publicly but figured i might have some ideas since i run into the same thing when i take a break from the gym. First, when you do get back there you might find your workout actually easier than you expect bc the past week has inadvertently acted as a rest period for your muscles! Second, when i need some motivation i just tell myself i will go for a short while and do something that i actually like to to do... then sometimes (not always) once I'm there it's not as bad as i expected and i can workout longer than i initially anticipated! Third... set it up so you get some minor reward when you get back afterwards!?

I went, and it was WONDERFUL as usual. :) Thank you all for the motivation. It reminded me why I started this and how far I have come. :) <3
