Its a girl, Madeline: 8 lb 10 oz (wow). And delivered the old-fashioned way. So completely over the moon about our new grand daughter!!!

Talked to my wife and grandson a minute ago. Asked him if he's ready to be a big brother and he said he and Grandma were just talking about that!. He is going to help take care of Madeline and teach her everything he can because she doesn't know anything yet. (Thanks Erq!).

On a sub-awesome note, I bashed my knee Sunday just before my 39 mile bike ride. Wasn't there a rash of knee injuries recently here on FS? What day was that? It hurt and had a big nasty scrape but I rode anyway and it didn't bother me at all. Woke up Monday and it hurt like mad (inside) and I had real pain when bending it. Surprisingly, its not swollen, though.

Going up stairs normally is murderously painful! So now I'm babying it, icing it and doing stairs one at a time. Looks like biking is off the table for a while. I fell directly on my knee on concrete and suspect I really mashed my kneecap and probably damaged its back-side cartilage, causing a bleed that didn't give me any problems until the next day.

So, I'm eating less to compensate for my near-zero activity and trying to learn to be content in every circumstance. Madeline certainly is helping me with that today.

Thank you the update. Elevate your leg amd make small light circles over the bruise from the distant point then towards the heart. This will encourage lymph drainage quicker. The lower leg is notorious for having poor circulation and therefore slower healing. You’ll be amazed at how the color will start to vanish if you do this. On the topic of your sweet angel. I completely understand my godson, I got to see born, just had his own child. You forget how heady this wondrous Miracle is to witness.
