I have no before pic in leggings. I am now a size 6 @ 5’2”. I packed on weight in retirement (size 12/14). A diagnosis of prediabeties woke me up!. The subsequent A1C had me one point away from norm. I test in 2 weeks and expect to be fully within norms!!

Good for you. We're in the same boat: Same height, same diagnosis. I wish I weighed what you weigh, then, I wouldn't have any problem(s). God bless us all always...Amen

You're looking great, Lis! I wonder sometimes why it is that some people take their doctor's advice seriously, and why others blow it off. I applaud your hard work to improve your health and your appearance. Can't wait to read about your test results in 2 weeks 🙂

Thank you everyone for your wonderful encouragement! FS is a great community.🤗 I will be certain to report back after my test. - And yes @Mesatop, the payoff is improved health and maybe even a new wardrobe! 😂😂 And it’s great to meet my health journey colleagues who are in the same prediabetic/diabetic2 boat. We are all doing this!!

I’m 5’2” too, but nowhere near size 6 😝 Maybe I can pretend that’s me in the mirror 😂

@Just Bananas, you ask an excellent question that moves me to speak about my experience- Why don’t more people follow their doctor’s advice? I don’t have that answer. I have a sad and puzzling question for us. Why don’t physicians alert patients to health concerns? My practice is to ask for and keep all of my own labs and reports. In addition, most often I will wait for a week or two and request the physician’s notes of my visit. Too often they claim to have advised something that they never did!! Case in point- I discovered my pre-diabetic status by checking my labs. I was stunned!!! I then researched the American Diabeties Association’s publications to learn what to do. They had a sign up for national group programs to reverse prediabeties. I joined this 12 mo. Program. I also read many scholarly papers on this diagnosis to teach myself. After over 3 months on my plan, I called the office for an order to repeat labs. The Physician complied - which is how I discovered the A1C drop. At my annual visit recently, he said not a word. I was too disgusted to bring it up. Yet in his physicians notes that I ordered later, he added the diagnosis and what he advised that I do- And that he ordered a follow up test. Why do I have that order? Because I asked for it before I left the office. This is all disgraceful and yes I will be changing internist. IMHO too many physicians push drugs for illnesses, rather than push prevention. The caution for you all is to ask for, read, and keep your own records. Also check insurance claims carefully so that your company is not overpaying for your care. Advocate for yourself. Sorry, that was long. I had to get it off my chest. Ending upbeat! Let’s make it a sunshiny day ☀️☀️☀️☀️. Thanks again! Whatever your goal, you can reach it!
