oh, man, i hate it when people ask me how i lost weight.
it's like they're all looking for a magical short-cut of some kind. as soon as i say "diet and exercise", they're done with the conversation.

Hey Owlfeather's - great job on your loss. I've also lost almost 70 lb and am nearing my goal weight. I think the "how much" question is rude, esp from people you hardly know. I hear it constantly. I guess b/c some people make weight loss a media event, the world now thinks personal questions on the topic are OK. I often want to ask "How much do you weigh now" to these people And yes, they want to hear some quick fix, not the veggies and exercise answer.

I better plan my responses now bc I'm not giving details.

Thanks for posting this; I'm having the same conversations here. Nice to know it's not just me. I'm also getting the "don't lose too much more, will you?" despite still being 14 pounds over my healthy BMI. What do people think, that I'm suddenly going to become raging anorexic? Don't think that's a very common phenomenon in weight loss! I try to bite my lip now and not mention it. Well done on doing so well though!

Great Job!! Don't let other people''s comments bother you. I'm 56 and people tell me that losing weigh at this age, I'll be getting a lot of wrinkles. My respond, wrinkles will not kill me but diabetes will kill me.

Great job, Owlfeathers!! Tim I have also gotten to hate that. It's usually the people at work who really do need to lose weight who I see drinking their magic weight loss shakes and eating 4or more donuts, bags of chips, extra large orders of fries for lunch, or like last week a regular sized paper plate heaped with several pieces of cake after 3 huge plates of nachos. They don't understand why their magic shakes aren't working. I just usually say eating healthy foods, keeping calories under 1200 and exercising.

I get so many comments also. "I can't tell you lost any weight" is one of my favorites. The first fifty maybe not, but after seventy pounds gone someone must be blind lol. Yes, I get the age thing too. Like cause your older you shouldn't care! I have always cared, but now I have much more knowledge and time to work on it. We all have to do this for ourselves and our families. Not for other people in our lives.

Love it owlfeathers, I think you said just what most of us feel. I post little on face book. I've gone from a size 16 jeans to an 8 or 9. Some of my dress pants for work are size 6. At 64 and my neck was cut for cervical surgery I also have the turkey neck, the "granny wing" under my upper arms (trying to tone that but probably no luck on that worth a try). The you've lost weight, you don't need to lose any more (not at my optimum yet)why are you still working out? Duh! I want to be healthy the rest of my life, I'm far from in shape. My goal to ride the Katy trail bike ride about 50 miles next memorial day. I can't right now ride my bike more than 10 minutes. This is a forever commitment.

Definitely worth it. I feel so much better and usually so much more energy. My joints rarely hurt now just a rare day here and there. It's all for me.
