That wasn't so scary now, was it?
I was terrified about completely changing my mindset about the things I consumed, but I made it through day one and I came to a startling realization...
If I stick to the recommended SERVING SIZES then the calorie count really won't be insane.
That was my big fear with Atkins even though I've read and read and read I still couldn't get it through my thick melon that I wasn't going to end up shoveling several thousands of calories of bacon down my cake hole.
Granted, I'm used to eating a more plant based diet, but I needed to eat waaaaaay more to feel satisfied. And that led to so much mindless grazing I grew to be the size of a farm animal that spends all of it's days grazing mindlessly.
So to all of my family and friends who poo-pood the idea of Atkins, a big fat raspberry to you. And to the few who actually listened to me explain how it works a great big thank you for keeping an open mind and for being encouraging.

Everyone I know poo poos on Atkins lol I personally have tried to do Atkins and fail, but I do know it works and I know its not THAT hard but I have an unnatural love for all things carby lol

All things carby (drool)! I think I used to live on all carbs before yesterday. It was freakin' frightening when I cleaned out my cabinets and fridge yesterday. A typical day used to be for me a bagel or english muffin for breakfast. Grilled cheese for lunch with some sort of potato or pasta salad or slaw and dinner would be pasta or meat and potatoes or rice but always with salad or lots of veggies. Snacks during the day were chips, fruit, pretzels, another bagel or english muffin. In the evenings my husband and I would share a bottle of wine (or 2) or have a few beers. Then there was dessert.......Ugh. How in the world did I think I wouldn't gain weight even though I've always walked miles and miles a day?

Lol cleaning out cupboards is the biggest wake up call, I remember in August I did it and I think I cried when I threw some thing a way. Lol My brothers actually came upstairs and took things and put them in the basement so they could have them. I don't do Low- carb or anything but I have cut way back on the Carbs... and the Junk food is out of my life I can't have it in the house or I will eat it.
