Walked 3.3 miles this morning; dogs were along for 2.6. It's been really humid again, so the 70 degrees on a cloudy day just makes you feel all clammy. I put on long sleeves and I'm too hot. I put on short sleeves and my arms feel chilly. Just can't win when the weather's like this.

To any and all who are travelling this week: Please be extra careful. The vast majority of us will be here when you get back and I want to see you come back, all safe and sound.

This weekend I finished the OCC boxes and turned them in on Sunday. It was great seeing so many boxes coming into the church, but there could have been so many more. The publicity for the program this year seemed rather minimal, so it would be interesting to see how the number of boxes compares to last year. Of course, the economy probably took a toll on the program, as well.

Over the weekend, I also made a trip to the closest Walmart in a neighboring city. I went very late Sunday afternoon, thinking it would be not as crowded. Boy, was I wrong!!! The streets in that city were all very light with traffic, but the roads around that Walmart were jammed!! Took me waiting thru 3 traffic light cycles just to get off the side street on to the main road when I was coming out of the parking lot. Sheesh! One thing's for sure....NO WALMART for me unless it's an emergency between now and Christmas. There's nothing I want or need that badly to go through what will be even worse congestion in the store and outside. Luckily I stocked up on a few Atkins-type foods that only Walmart carries. If I run out before Christmas, I think I'll order it online and get home delivery. LOL!!

Today, I braved 2 grocery stores to get the fresh items I need for Thanksgiving, both at home and for DH's work luncheon on Wednesday. The one grocery store now appears to be the only place I can find the sugar-free (NO added sugar!) aerosol whipping cream, as Walmart doesn't carry it anymore (not there and no bin tag for it either).

I got most of my food at a 2nd store which was really pretty busy. I expected as much, but this was my opportunity to get the fresh foods. And every day it gets closer to Thanksgiving, the busier the stores will be. I stocked up on so much food in produce, you'd actually think I might be a healthy eater! LOL!! Onions, spinach, carrots, celery, cauliflower, romaine lettuce, asparagus, white asparagus, green beans, etc.

Then, it was back home to give both dogs a pedicure (my gal is off to the vet tomorrow for her annual check-up and shots) and will probably dose them with Frontline once I check when their last dose was.

Oh yeah, my weight. Well, it was back up to 185, but that's better than yesterday when I was almost 2 pounds heavier than that. I think I discovered that the MIMs I make do indeed slow me down. Fiber is good, but if it's not moving thru the system, then I'm weighing all that fiber until it does. Also, the pumpkin pie MIX that I mistakenly bought with the added sugar also slows me down. Laura (Restlesshope) warned me to get rid of it but I kept it and used 2 tsp. with each muffin. I mean, how much can 1.9 net carbs (just for the mix) hurt you? Well...this just proves to me what I've known but chose to ignore: a carb is not a carb is not a carb. Just because you can keep your net carbs below a certain number, you can still have weight loss difficulties if those carbs are not quality carbs. So when people take "just a bite" of a piece of cake, or have a "fun size" candy bar, they may keep their carbs in line, but it may still cause a slowdown in weight loss. I don't know how that happens, but I know it's true for me.

I like to stay home as much as possible around the holidays. Can't stand the lines, rude shoppers, and people taking things right out of my shopping cart. I had a little old lady follow me around a store once and when my back was turned, she took 2 items out of my cart. Needless to say, they were the last 2 things in the store and I never found anymore. So shopping during the busy holiday's just isn't for me. On-line shopping sounds wonderful to me. I can say Sandy, you are really on top of things and way more ambisious than I. We are home for the holidays. Don't know how many will shop up, but who ever comes, comes. Enjoy you holidays and you stay safe too.:)
