Do you agree there’s something wrong with a site purported to be a health/weight loss/fitness site where more support is received for pictures of cake and junk food as opposed to actual health/weight loss/fitness success?

The responses here are awesome and exactly what I wanted to learn. First and foremost weight loss/health/fitness is simply specifically individually specific; clearly what works for one, or a group like that one, does not work for another, and so on. We are all different! Bodies are not cookie-cutter made; they are all comprised of different gene compositions and their requirements change over time. So, bottom line for me and my ultimate takeaway from this, those who believe that what is right for them should be right for everyone might benefit from opening their mind and doing research, as I have, to learn that, for instance, sugar is absolutely no good FOR SOME people. Last spring I shared my WOE with my cousin, a nutritionist. He was terrified by my food log and how little carbs I was consuming. He told me to put fruit back in my diet and I was thrilled because I love fruit and missed it. So I did, being sure to account for calories in my DCI. Over the course of the next two months I gained 8 pounds back just from that one change. Nixed the fruit and lost those 8 and am continuing to goal. Since I didn’t have this problem before my 50’s, I am positive my body changed with age, meaning what it requires to be healthy and maintain. I could go on but I’m sure you want the end. So, in closing, maybe stop trying to cram down one way works when it’s just your way.

If I stop eating carbs I’ll lose 5-10 or more lbs. but it not worth it to me. I rather eat carbs than to lose 10 more pounds

Lol I just took a look at my food pictures, it is mostly carbs. if I stop eating carbs I’ll lose 20 lbs easily.

Nope, Rosio, no deprivation of carbs on lift days/3x/week. For me it literally is the continuous feed of sugar from whatever source, i.e., fruit. And I’m very happy to be able to have a piece of cake or chocolate or cracker crack with zero effect. I can have fruit but not daily. I’ll call that two months an experiment, and it taught me what I needed to know for me.

Maybe you have an intolerance to fruit. But that is a medical issue not a calorie or sugar one

Well, didn’t used to. Time changes things. Speaking of time, I look forward to having this conversation with you in, what, 25 years when you’re my age and time most probably changed things up on you to your great surprise. It’s all good, though... I figured it out (for now). You do you, I’ll do me, and we’ll lift each other up and celebrate as we go knowing we are different 😊

Emalee, did you look at your calorie count during your experiment? I am sensitive to grain and dairy, when I eat it I gain water weight overnight from bloating. However once I remove it the water comes right off, this weight isn’t the same as fat weight.

Maybe you are sensitive to fruit like I am to certain grains and lactose? Not a doctor so 🤷🏻‍♀️

It proved for me that the science behind keto is accurate...those doctors and scientists already figured out which fruits are okay...sadly they’re right 😂

Emalee, thanks for your post. I just recorded a journal asking pretty much the same question. I agree that we all eat those foods at some point and most successful folks plan them into their lifestyle. Weightlifters are excused from this question. Diablo always makes sense.

Love all the pics and all the attitudes here! I can tell you that my own knowledge and WOE now about how to control weight and eat healthy has changed considerably since joining FS. I still lean towards the LC side of diet plans if I want to lose a few ponds. But many of you here sharing food pics and what you know to be true from your own journey has changed my initial point of view. This post is a perfect example! Let’s Rock On together here on FS and spread this wealth of friendly information and encouragement to all that come here!

I'd say there are plenty of older ladies on here who would disagree, your age doesn't change physics. They've done hundreds of metabolic ward studies and have yet to find anyone who can essentially get more energy from certain foods than others. You have to understand, CICO dictates fat loss/gain, so saying that a certain macro can cause you to gain more body tissue is claiming that it is superior. So if your body gets more energy from fruit then it would also have to be a bonus for muscle gain. It would have to be superior for an anorexic trying to gain weight or a starving population in a famine stricken area. So some bacon would have them waste away,(cause you eat fat to burn fat, haha), while some fruit would halt the fat loss that is killing them.

Diablo, the point is they certainly can disagree because what works for me doesn’t work for them. We. Are. All. Different! I’m even different than I was in my 20’s through 40’s. I never suffered from obesity, was overweight but could solve that with CICO easily until my 50’s when “things” changed and it was no longer as simple as CICO. Thankfully, though, I researched and tried and found what NOW works for me. I’m no longer overweight from hitting obesity and my blood is better than it was even back in my 20’s. So very much involved, science, chemistry, everything, but I, again to ME, am my own proof that it is not CICO anymore 😊

We're all different until we take part in studies involving hundreds of people from older sedentary obese people to young athletes. Then we are all the same. You can search my profile for the evidence. When calories and protein are equated, fat loss is the same whether someone is low carb or high carb. Can you explain how the ladies on here who are your age who lose weight even when eating cake are different but Rosio will definitely be the same as you in 25 years?
