Do you agree there’s something wrong with a site purported to be a health/weight loss/fitness site where more support is received for pictures of cake and junk food as opposed to actual health/weight loss/fitness success?

I disagree. I use this app more for peer support and also for logging my intakes and macros. Some are trying to gain weight or “bodybuild”, hence logging and photos of higher calorie foods that are not part of some diets. While I am not able to enjoy the higher calorie, carb and sugar laden foods, I sure don’t mind admiring photos of them. Often times, I admire them for quite some time LOL! Food porn! 😂 I am a lifelong sugar junkie, so I experiment with ketogenic friendly desserts and sometimes use photo examples to research keto recipes or devise my own. As I said before, my main reason for using this particular app is for peer support, it allows for exchanging ideas and ways of eating that don’t always match my own. There you have it, my two cents 😁 All of the best to you!

I noticed the replies answer your question. This site is open to all and FREE so we are getting a lot, and similar to food choices some things here are not ideal for my health. Personally, I am delighted to get help but believe I am the one responsible for my choices and hope others will figure out what is best for themselves.

depends really, I support those trying to gain and lose, I have been on both sides of the spectrum. Gaining can be difficult so those cakes and cookies maybe a necessity for some, and occasionally all of us. ;)

After almost 20 years of dieting, the foods that others find unhealthy are the key to remaining on track towards my goals, so in a way, they are very healthy for me in the long term. Mental health is also very important for overall discipline. Just because something has less vitamins, doesn't make it unhealthy. The only truly unhealthy macro is transfat. Get your vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein, and a healthy amount of calories for your goals while enjoying life. Some people will never get it, the ones who have never dealt with being truly heavy don't know that being strict can have detrimental effects. You see it all the time on this site, people coming back after gaining all of their weight back because they were following a diet that was unsustainable long term for them.

I agree with you, I have been on a happy healthy meal plan 5&1 and have lost 30 pounds in 7 weeks, now that I see what it takes to lose unwanted pounds I am amazed. When these folks eat just a tiny bit of sugar of any type, they lose the opportunity to lose weight for the next four days.

That is the worst bit of information I've read from someone on here in a while. So a bit of fruit would stall fat loss for 4 days? And no, the sugar in a Twinkie doesn't have some magical ability to create energy out of thin air compared to the sugar in an apple. They are one in the same where fat loss/gain is concerned. Imagine if all anyone needed to avoid anorexia is to have a bit of sugar every 4 days...

WOW! This post got a lot of response and it didn't have a picture of anything with it. I guess it shows we do read post and don't just click on the pictures or blindly click like on post without thinking first.

Huh @barnabus I had a 475 calorie frosted apple fritter 2 days ago and lost 3 lbs. Went from 30.2 % body fat to 29.8 %...what you say is not true.

I agree with SMK2016. I like food, so I like the pics of food. I am following not only many of you all, but also a couple of Japanese people, a Korean, a guy speaking a language I"m not exactly familiar with (lots of weird accents under the "c".../shrug), and others. I like all food. So the pics make me happy. I'm losing weight fine. But Diablo man.... sometimes your pics make me drool all over my keyboard. I try to follow up reading yours with that guy that does 4-day water fasts. I figure I should eat somewhere in between you two.:):)

I think that if more support is in the junk food it’s cause more people are understanding the junk food is not the problem

(As I said yesterday on my post.) The problem is the person and their ignorance to nutrition, their lack of self control, their lack of discipline, their lack of respect to themselves, their weak goals, their lack of confidence, their mal adaptive behavior towards foods.

SMK... I ate a quarter pounder meal with medium fries and lost 2.8. 😉 makes it so easy to reach goals when nothing is off limits just moderated a little.

I think the overall message is we support those who can eat their cake...(donut... crack... insert junk food...) and head towards their goal👊

I concur with most of the posters. I eat as I wish but I keep it in moderation. Fitting what I enjoy into my RDI. I also workout. I can easily eat a cupcake and still lose weight. I can’t eat 3-4 in a sitting. Sugar doesn’t prevent weight loss. Inactivity and overeating it do.
