Everyone's body is different. We all gain and lose weight at different rates. Yet when you figure your calories needed to maintain your weight all they consider is your height, weight, sex and level of activity. Isn't it possible that by years of eating poorly that some peoples bodies adjust to that and maintain on a lot less calories therefore make it harder to lose weight without majorly restricting calories? Is there any kind of test available to really measure how many calories an individual burns while at rest and while exercising? I know as you gain muscle you're supposed to burn more calories even while resting but what happens until your body gets used to eating better and you get in better shape? I just don't think I could handle 1500 calories and not gain weight at this point.
