Since April 1st I have been walking my shoes off! Weather permitting I have been trying to get in a 3-5 mile walk in every morning at 5 AM before work. A few weeks ago the wife and I decided we would be going to Green Bay with the in-laws at the end of this month to WALK in the 5K. Saturday I found out that my Father-In-Law signed me up to run with him! YIKES!!! I haven't run any distance since I stopped (gave up) testing to be a Police Officer. Well Sunday after church I went for a test run/walk. I did the 5K (3.1miles) in 36 mins. It was NOT pretty! I am sure feeling the pain now. There was a fair about of walking half way through. Has anyone else done a 5k before - is it acceptable to walk or will I be making the athletic people angry? The 5K is Saturday July 20th. I was hoping to get another run or 2 in to kind of prep but my legs hurt so bad right now I can hardly walk up the stairs. LOL

I have done plenty of 5k's and it is okay to walk it, but for me I run as much as I can and when I start feeling nauseous or trying to catch my breath - that's when I walk. Just move over to the side if you are slowing down and don't start out fast , keep your pace steady...You will do great
