2140 calories burned on the bike ride this morning. Feel good. Current strategy to bring up the level of muscle use, and remain moderate with fat and carbs. There is no limit on lean proteins.

Keep staying away from factory processed foods on an ordinary every day basis, but allow some at the weekends. Hope it works out ok over the next few weeks.

That is some motivation...must have been over three hours...good for you! I wonder if my knees could handle bike riding. Walking and running are out of the question.

Shiny50. Swim or walk in a pool. Takes all the weight off your joints.

Walk up hills backwards Shiny. Trust me.

@Kenna and @Terrapin thank you for the tips. I had a meniscal tear repaired in Feb. on the left knee and now my right knee is acting up. I can definitely try the pool walking. I have a 15' round pool in my backyard.

A meniscus tear takes time and 6 Months of PT (Me, you may be different) I knew it was healed when I could pivot and push off on the leg to get out of the car. Be patient with it. The knee joint is a crappy healer and some of the floaters can stick around for a few months.

Shiny50– definitely if you did not do PT do it now.

Wow...I specifically asked my surgeon about PT TWICE and he said it was not necessary. And, according to my doctor, I had a huge meniscal tear. I went online and did the exercises I could find there, but I am sure my surgeon will not order PT. Very frustrating. He discharged my two weeks after surgery saying everything was fine. I have had mobility problems since the surgery and still get swelling from the knee through to the ankle and foot. I really don't know what to do at this point. I do not trust nor like the surgeon I used.

Shiny50- having done some of the internet exercises do you feel that you have sufficient information and a grasp of what needs to be done.? You can always go to the doctor and tell him you are not comfortable with how your recovery is going and let him know you have been exercising to internet videos. SPECIFICALLY tell him you would like a physical therapy evaluation. If he refuses, talk to your primary and ask for a second opinion. And you can also call and talk to your insurance company patient advocate.

All great ideas Kenna and things I internally know. I am an excellent advocate for everybody except myself. I will try again asking the surgeon for a PT referral. If he refuses, I will ask my PCP for a referral (HMO) to another surgeon for a second opinion. Thank you!!!

Surgeons are so often arrogant. And PT's really know their stuff. IMHO
