Having a horrible problem with constipation. yes drinking prune juice, eating apricots, drinking plenty of water too. Now Doctor have me on stole softeners. Had to take 2 laxatives and a day later had a bit of relief. Its uncomfortable and put 4 pounds on me. Slowly getting rid of them. I'm gonna have to figure something else out soon.

Hey Tweetle I don’t know what type of diet you are doing but if you are doing a low carb higher protein thing don’t forget the high fat! Butter, heavy whipping cream, bacon, olive and coconut oils are your friends and should help you mucho with any bm issues for sure 😎

Try drinking Metemucil every night. The problem is a lot of people are on fad diets like keto and they minimize carbs way too much and fiber is a carb.

funny people with regular diets are constipated. I used to have problems with constipation, I did not deal with flour and veggies well (food sensitivities). once I stopped eating problem fiberous foods, I am no longer constipated. you might want to look into probiotics, some are designed to help break down some of those foods that can bind up your system

First...Keto is not a fad. It was found to be medically beneficial for some folks (with epilepsy) in the 1920’s. Second— fiber is fiber, not a carb. In fact, it is subtracted from total carbs to give you ‘net carbs’. I agree with others, though... add prebiotics, make sure you have balanced electrolytes and continue water and/or coffee, which is known to help some people ‘go’. Good luck Tweetledee.

There is an over the counter medication called MIRALAX, generic is PEG-3350, or polyethelene glycol -3350. It is a powder that you mix into a liquid - cold, warm, hot, your choice - daily. It is flavorless, colorless, odorless and calorie, sugar, gluten free. One scoop every day at about the same time will treat and then prevent constipation. Once you're cleaned out, if you start having loose stools, reduce to once every other day and see how it goes. This product will not interfere with any diet that I am aware of, but if you have any questions, doubts, etc, ask your doctor, pharmacist, nutritionist, etc. I was a nurse for a long time, and this is something I have given to hundreds of people, and taken myself. You can buy it at any drugstore, megastore (WalMart), and most grocery stores, too. The generic is the exact same product and a LOT less expensive! Good luck!

Sorry to hear you’re having such a hard time. May I suggest trying peppermint tea? It worked like magic in “that” department and it’s sooo good too!

I have had a problem with constipation—probably since I turned 35?? I am now 68. I have usually treated it with enemas which seemed safer to me than drugs. However I went to an iridologist who prescribed FasTract by Solle. At first she told me to take way too much and I really suffered. The regular dose is 3 capsules (as per the bottle) but I am now cutting the capsule in half and that seems to be about right. You have to be careful because that powder can get all over, and the taste is awful—take a sugar free mint!! It’s a colon activator and a really good cleanse. But I just wanted comfortable relief. It helps create mucous (sorry to be so graphic) and stimulates the bowel walls. Of course you don’t want those walls too stimulated!! It’s very uncomfortable and gassy, but at the right dosage when you need it, it’s a godsend!!!

Can you increase your fiber and activity? When I have a GI traffic jam, I add powdered fiber to my morning routine and increase my walking. I also do yoga that works my core to stimulate movement.

Traditional Medicinal "Smooth Move" or Triple Leaf "Laxative". One cup brewed strongly before bed with a large glass of water. I add a little cinnamon to help with the flavor when the tea is needed. 🍵

Mineral oil 3 tsp before bed - no taste, no calories, inexpensive, and very gentle. I also grate fresh ginger root, then steep it in hot water with green tea - provides a gentle stimulation to get things moving. I have had issues with fiber during low cal diets - without enough food volume, the fiber can clog me up even worse.
