For those considering Cymbalta for pain....some of my fx:

I've been titrating (weaning)off of Cymbalta (a SNRI anti-depressant/ Pain reliever). Now on my 4th day 100% off of Cymbalta, and I'm experiencing the 'weird' fx i see on various websites. The symptoms started in earnest yesterday, about noon, Feeling really dizzy,nauseous, kind of 'brain zappy',--hard-to-explain, almost like the near pass out feeling after hard football/basketball practice in the Florida Heat, or for me, when I'm working in an exposure suit, in the Fla. sun. Really intense stuff. 'Brain-shocks' and zaps too. Really, really strange stuff.

It was so bad yesterday, that as I was driving to p/u my boy from school, I was reviewing safety procedures to safely secure my truck, if I started passing out. Even called my wife, to let her know what was up...and for most guys, that's a HUGE thing to do, lol.

I mostly rested after dinner, and it mediated fairly well, though it was very difficult to fall asleep, arthritis-fibro-type pain, and my dreams, HOLY MOLY, the weird dreams are back. Much like when I was starting Cymbalta in the spring. Prolly didn't help, that I watched the 'attic' episode of 'Doll House' last night. If you like Joss Whedon, you know what I'm talking about!

Anyway, upon waking (late) this am, The symptoms are back. I took benadryl & fishoil as suggested on some sites. I'll chill for a while and see what happens.

Cymbalta is GOOD/BAD juju for me.
The good: Really helped my FMS pain.. a constant very achy flu-like pain that I had relegated myself to live with. Cymbalta showed me I don't have to live with that, and my quality of life can be much better, but I need to find therapy that doesn't affect my cardiovascular system.

The Bad: Elevated my BP 40-50 points, (systolic), and heart rate about 15-20 BPM. I'm not willing to add another med to control an effect of another med. At least not yet, lol. Don't want to ride that train!

I also took Cymbalta - for depression. The best side effect was my arthritis pain was practically gone - the bad...my stomach was a mess. And the retail for 90 days of that stuff was over $1000. good thing I had insurance. I no longer take Cymbalta or any other antidepressant. My arthritis pain is back but I'd rather have that than what my poor stomach was going through. I didn't have any effects when I stopped taking. I only took for a month or so though. Hope you feel better SOON! Oh yeah - I was a cheerleader in that FLA sun. :)
