A good day, today, so many nice things happened and I really feel healthy, both body and soul. I did kick the hornet's nest on FS though.... sheesh. I'm generally dismissive of fad diets on principle, as I've been horribly sick with autoimmune disease for most of my life. I've been horribly crippled, invested over 1 kilo of Prednisone and over 1 kilo of NSAIDs and chemotherapy drugs and spent over 2 months of my life in the ICU over the past 30 years. Of all the people in my original support group (Chrones, Lupis, AKS, RS, et) I'm the only one left alive... the only one standing. And not only am I still here, I'm better at 51 than I was in my 30's. I'm no "expert" but what I am is a survivor... I've been to every doctor and faith healer and naturapath and nutritionist and immumologist under the sun. A MILLION dollars in medical bills have come and gone
... and so I've heard every con job l, well intentioned piece of advice on the planet ...and so you know what I've learned? #1 There is no magic.... anything worthwhile comes from dogged discipline and sacrifice. #2 Life is about balance. ANY extreme will have consequences. There is a pendulum, baby, and the pendulum always swings back.... so any extreme you try to push to, will eventually create momentum in the other direction, so the best advice in general, in any endevor, is to maintain balance. Finally, skepticism is HEALTHY and rational, and if anyone ever gets offended by skeptism, that's a good signal that you might want to avoid that person or group. Cultish behavior should always ring the alarm bells... because if your thing is a real thing, and a good thing... no one is going to get offended if you're skeptical of it. Like, if I say... "Man, I refuse to drink water... I just don't think it's healthy for you..." no one is going to be offended by that... they might think I'm an idiot... they might me concerned I'm going to die! But they won't be offended... because it's a simple truth that water is good for you. Simple truths need no defense and cause no offense.
